Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge
OBJECTIVE:-
We have to simulate a bullet penetrating into a bucket with 3 different non-linear materials for the bucket and analyse their behaviour for the same velocity of the bullet.
CASE SETUP AND EXECUTION:-
1. First open the Ansys workbench.
2. Next goto Toolbox→Analysis settings→Explicit dynamics as shown below.

3. Right-click on the Engineering data→Edit Select required non-linear materials.
4. Next right click on the Geometry →Import geometry and open the geometry in the space claim as shown below.
5. Right-click on the Model→Edit and it opens a mechanical new tab to work on it as shown below.

6. Go to geometry and rename the components and assign the required materials as shown below.

7. Next right click on the Mesh→Insert→Sizing as shown below.

8. Again right-click on the mesh select generate mesh as shown below.

9. Next goto analysis settings set the parameters as shown below.

10. Create the fixed support on the bottom of the bucket face as shown below.

12. Next give the velocity for the bullet as shown below.

13. Right-click on the solution select solve to start the analysis.

CONCLUSION:-
| CASE | EQUIVALENT STRESS(MPA) | EQUIVALENT ELASTIC STRAIN | TOTAL DEFORMATION(mm) | TEMPERATURE(0C) |
| CASE1 | 2534 | 0.03569 | 1895 | 1076.6 |
| CASE2 | 2830 | 0.03180 | 1442.9 | 1236.8 |
| CASE3 | 643.18 | 0.056118 | 1319.9 | 2264.2 |
As comparing the above results when changing the bucket material all results will be changes depend upon the material properties.
