Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
|
CASE_1:- PLATE WITH 1 HOLE |
CASE_2:- PLATE WITH 3 HOLES |
|
1) Deformation
Max Deformation Value: - 0.00027492 mm |
1) Deformation
Max Deformation Value: - 0.00029728 mm |
|
2) Maximum Stress
Maximum Stress Value:- 0.60654 MPa |
2) Maximum Stress
Maximum Stress Value:- 0.58116 MPa |
|
3) Analysis Stand Point:
· FOS:- 15 |
3) Analysis Stand Point:
· FOS:- 15 |
|
· There is not much of a difference in value of Deformation and Stress. · Even after removing the material in 3-hole plate the value of stress doesn’t increase. · Henceforth, I will go for plate with 3 holes. |
|
|
4) Manufacturing Stand Point: · It is easy to manufacture this plate, since it required less no of operations. |
4) Manufacturing Stand Point: · To mfg. a plate with 3 holes it will require more operations and a lot of precision work in GD &T. |
|
· Since, there is not much difference in Stress values for above 2 cases, from MFG. point of view I would like to go for Case_1[Plate with 1 Hole]. |
|
- Conclusion:
Now, if I am assigned the task of selecting any one Design from above as a Product Engineer; then I will definitely go for CASE_2[Plate with 3 Holes].
It is clear that from Design point of view both Cases have almost same values and are over define, since FOS is 15 for both cases.
Thus, I will choose CASE_2 as my final design, because in case_2 I will be saving on material and weight of the product at a same time.
