Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
1. Comparison of deformation and maximumVon Mises Stress
| S. No. | Property | Case 1 | Case2 | |
| 1 | Deformation mm | |||
| Max. |

| Min. | 0 | 0 | ||
| 2 | Von Mises Stress MPa | |||
| Max. | 1.5573 | 0.44386 | ||

2. From Design Point of view Case 2 is preferred as stresses are lowered. Lower thickness plate and lower cost material can be selected.
3. From Manufacturing Point of view Case 1 is preferred as time of cost of manufacturing is lower. Productivity is higher.
4. In highly stressed members Case 2 Design is preferred. Lower cost material can be chosen. The system is lighter also. However, in not critical items Case 1 Design is preferred for its ease of manufacturing.
