Ans- Different materials that can be designed using staad pro are concrete, aluminium, steel and timber.
- Is it possible to capture images in STAAD Pro? If yes how?
Ans-
Yes, it is possible to capture images in staad pro. To take the picture in the staad pro, firstly open the staad pro and the go to utilities tab and on tool section, click on the take picture, by using take picture, it possible to take picture.

After clicking the click picture bottom, a pop up menu will open which name the picture and caption it.

Ans- Three ways by which a model can be created,
- By using grid system.
- By using structure wizard
- By manually inserting location of node.
- Write the steps followed to assign properties in a model.
Ans-
After creation and defining of the model and material properties, firstly go to properties tab on analytical modelling, the model has to be selected and then click in the material properties that is going to be assigned and then click on one of the assignment methods i.e. assign to the selected beam, use cursor to assign, assign to assign to edit list and assign to view as per the suitability.
2. 1. Name any six design parameter involved in RCC design.
Ans- six design parameter involved in RCC design is given below,
Clb- clear cover for outermost bottom reinforcement in beam
Fc- compressive strength of the concrete
Clt- clear cover for outermost top reinforcement in beam
Fymain- yield strength for main reinforcement steel
Fysec- yield strength for shear reinforcement steel
Md1- main bar min size for bar combination
2.What are the different cursor types available in STAAD Pro?
Ans – Different type of cursors in staad pro is given below,
- Node cursor
- Beam cursor
- Plates cursor
- Solids cursor
- Plate and solids cursor
- Geometry cursor
- Physical member cursor
3. How will you generate different views for a model? State the steps involved.
Step-1- Firstly create a model in staad pro
Step-2- then go to view in the menu bar.
Step-3- in the view menu bar, there are different view i.e. isometric view, top view, bottom view, left view, right view, front view and back view. Any view can be choose by click on the require view button.
4. Explain the procedure to define a “Simply Supported” condition in STAAD Pro.
Ans- After creation of model by using any of the three method, go to support tab on analytical modelling, and then select the nodes that are going to be assigned support. After selection of nodes, support condition has been created by click on create menu, then a pop up box will open where select the pinned with restrain in Fx,Fy, Fz and released in Mx,My,Mz and create the pinned support. Now create the roller support by selecting on fixed but option where take release on Fx, Mx, My and Mz.

After creation of the pinned support and roller support, then select one of the nodes where the support condition is going to be assigned and click on the pinned support and then click on the assign to selected nodes and then click on other node and assign the roller support.
5. Name any five topics that you will include while creating DBR.
- General introduction
- Structural layout
- Loads and combination
- Analysis and design methodology
- Quality assurance plan
6. Describe the term “Multi material design” of STAAD Pro.
Ans- The term “Multi material design” of STAAD Pro means various type of material like concrete, steel, timber, aluminium can be used in design and analysis in staad pro.
3. 1. Name the structure systems in STAAD Pro? Explain each system?
Ans- Type of structural system in STAAD pro is given below,
- Space structural system
- Plane structural system
- Frame structural system
- Truss structural system
Space structural system
In this type of structural system, the geometry is 3 dimensional, loading condition and deformation is three dimensional and the joint could be any type i.e. pinned, fixed, roller etc.
Plane structural system
In this type of structural system, the geometry is 2 dimensional, loading condition and deformation is two dimensional and the joint could be any type i.e. pinned, fixed, roller etc.
Frame structural system
In this type of structural system, the geometry is 2 dimensional, loading condition and deformation is perpendicular to XZ plane and the joint could be any type i.e. pinned, fixed, roller etc.
Truss structural system
In this type of structural system, the geometry is 3 dimensional, loading condition and deformation is three dimensional and the joint should be pinned.
2. Explain the coordinate system adopted in STAAD Pro software.
Ans- In staad pro, unlike any other software the coordinate system has x and z axis in 2D plane and y axis is in perpendicular to the x and z plane.

3. Elaborate DBR and its uses.
Ans- Design basis report is the documents which consists of all the general introduction of the project, and details information of the project from start to end of the project like load details, structural details, location, material , design methodology, quality assurance data etc.
It also consist of assumption and specification that are being used to develops the construction documents of the project. Basically DBR transfer the what to how the project is going to be managed.
Uses of DBR
- It is used to simplify the project planning.
- It helps in specifying and compiling the data required for analysis and design of structural elements of the projects.
- It helps in avoiding the scope creep that can derail the project schedule and leads to budget overruns.
4.Explain the different types of analysis options in STAAD pro.
Different type of analysis in STAAD pro are given below,
- Perform analysis
- P D analysis
- Perform cable analysis
- Nonlinear analysis
- Force spectrum analysis
- Direct analysis
- Pushover analysis
- Bucking analysis
- Imperfection analysis
Perform analysis
- Linear static analysis
- First order analysis
- Analysis for primary load case.
- Analysis for single members/ elements
P D analysis
- Second order analysis (iterative analysis)
- Majorly for seismic and dynamic analysis
Perform cable analysis
- This is a iterative analysis
- When the member in cable, this analysis is used.
Nonlinear analysis
- Second order analysis (iterative analysis)
- Majorly for seismic and dynamic analysis
Force spectrum analysis
- Dynamic analysis
- To analysis the structural response like displacement, velocity and acceleration of dynamic load like earthquake.
- It is nonlinear analysis
Direct analysis
- This is used to perform nonlinear iterative analysis for dynamic load.
Pushover analysis
- This is the static approach of analysis of dynamic loading and nonlinear loading and to analysis the seismic structure in static approach.
Bucking analysis
- For compression member having high slenderness ratio, to check and analysis for buckling and crippling, this analysis is used.
Imperfection analysis
- To check the imperfection in the model like section size.
5. Explain the difference between Fixed and Fixed But condition.
Ans-Fixed condition means the support condition has the degree of freedom of 0 for 3D model and restraint in all the 6 direction for 3D model that means reaction in all 3 direction and moment in all 3 direction.
But in case of fixed but condition, the support condition has restrain in all 6 direction, but we can release the support condition as per the requirement.
