Assignment-1

Ans of question-1

  1. 1. Go to share option- go to send mail option-brouse file name(.std)-send mail
  2. 2. Different materials that can be designed using staad pro are- concrete, steel, aluminium.
  3. Yes it”s possible to capture picture in staad pro.

Steps: - Go to utilities- from menu bar click over take picture-give id and caption- ok.

  1. 4. 3 ways to create a model –
  2. Analytical modelling- Used for analytical purpose. We mostly using analytical modelling.
  3. Physical modelling- How to buildings react physical and natural modelling. Because in building we will use concrete, timber, steel, or any other material properties and in physical modelling we show all material properties in a single unit.
  4. Building planner -It can be used if you have typical floors, typical loading pattern then we used building planner.
  5. Steps followed to assign properties in a model are-

Go to properties – go to define- select the properties I,e rectangular or circular- give dimension and select materials as concrete or steel or Aluminium - add- close.

Ans of question-2

  1. Six design parameters involved in RCC design are-

Fck= Characteristic strength of concrete at 28 days.

Fy= yield strength of steel.

Sigma cbc= Permissible stress in concrete in bending compression.

Sigma cc= Permissible stress in concrete in direct compression.

Es= modulus of elasticity of steel.

Ec= modulus of elasticity of concrete.

Tao bd= Design bond stress.

Tao c= shear stress in concrete.

  1. 4 types of cursor available in staad pro are as follows-
  2. Node cursor- use to select node.
  3. Beam cursor- use to select beams.
  4. Plate cursor- use to select plate.
  5. Solid cursor- used to select any solid.
  1. Generate different views for a model and steps involved-

Go to view – select types of view to be needed I,e isometric or top view or bottom view or left view or front view or back view.

  1. Procedure to define a simply supported condition in staad pro-

Go to supports- create- go to fixed support- add- go to fixed but-release Fx, & Mz- add.

Then two support condition are created & both supports are assigned at both ends.

  1. Five tropics that include while creating DBR are-
  2. i) Location of the projects and general specifications of the project.
  3. ii) Materials consideration and its properties.

iii) Loading condition that are given and sample calculation.

  1. iv) Codal standard which are followed to create the structure.
  2. v) Structural layout.
  3. vi) Analysis and design methodology.
  4. Multi material design-

In a building somewhere we will use steel , concrete, wood etc. in staad pro we can select any materials to change its properties.

Explanation- Geometry of the structure are specified as 2D,3D That means the structure is 3 dimensional, Loading and deformation of the structure are specified as 2D,3D That means the loading and deformation occure in 3 plane.

  1. Coordination system adopted in staad pro-
  2. i) Global axis-Global axis in staad pro is fixed and not variable.
  3. ii) Local axis- Local axis in staad pro is variable and depends upon member orientation.
  4. DBR and its uses-
  5. i) To specify and compile the data required for analysis and design of structural elements of the project.
  6. ii) It clearly depicts the assumptions and specifications that are being used to develop the construction documents for a projects.

iii) It will also help avoid the scope creep that can derail the projects schedule and lead to budget overturns.

  1. iv) It is basically transform the what into the how.
  2. Different types of analysis option in staad pro are-
  3. i) Perform analysis- it is the linear static fast analysis. used for primary load cases. I need to analyse any single Element we do analysis through perform analysis.
  4. ii) P Delta analysis- P Delta analysis is the second order itractive analyses, it gives a seismic factors for high rise buildings.

iii) Perform cable analysis- Every members are assigned as a cables and it is a itractive process.

  1. iv) Perform imperfection analysis- it is assigned if a given member imperfection.
  2. v) Non linear analysis- This is also an itractive analysis it carries out static non linear analysis. This non linearity is applied to the geometry but is not applicable for solids.
  3. vi) General floor spectrum analysis- this is used for highrise buildings there we have to check the diafram act into study the stress variation of the floor.

vii) Perform direct analysis- perform direct analysis is followed or adopted in the software with the basis of AISE Code. It performs a non-linear itractive analysis.

viii) Push over analysis- It is carried out earthquake load case analysis, the deformation of the structure majorly studied, and the buckling as the name suggest considering the buckling at a member and it is also a itractive analysis.

  1. Difference between Fixed and Fixed but condition-

Fixed- All translation movement and rotational movements are restrained.i,e(Fy,Fx,Fz & Mx,My,Mz)

Fixed but- If we need to create a roller supports then we need to go in fixed but and release Fx & Mz to create roller support.

Practical-

  1. i) At first create the nodes
  2. ii) Create the beam to connect the nodes

iii) For create support go to support then click on create then select the fixed support and add and for assigning of the support click over use cursor to assign and assign at left side of the beam , then we need to create another support I,e roller support for that click over fixed but then release the (Fx& Mz) click on add, for assigning go to use cursor to assign and assign ar right side of the beam.

  1. iv) Create properties- Go to properties- click over define- rectangular- give size of the beam (300mm*300mm)- materials is selected for concrete-click on add-for assigning click over created properties and click over assign to view.
  2. v) Create loading- Go to loading- load case details-add- loading type Live and title LL add. Then we need to create a point load at mid span of the beam. So click over LL – click on add – click on nodal load – put the value of Fy as -50 kn- add, for assigning click over loading condition-click on use cursor to assign- assign on mid node.

Analysis and results-
