Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
Question:1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
Aim: Setup project shared coordinates & base point
Step 1:) New > Architectural > Ok

Step 2:) Grids > provide Transverse & Longitudinal grids

Step 3:) Manage > Coordinates > Specify coodinates at point

Step 4:) Click on the interesection of two grids > Give N-S direction coordinates as 0

Step 5:) Type "VG" > Model categories > Site > Project base point > Apply

Step 6:)Keep the project base point coordinates 0,0 for all directions

Result: Project base point & Shared coordinates were created in architectural model
Question:2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
Aim: To set project parameters in structural model same as previously created architectural model
Step 1:) New > Structural > Ok

Step 2:) Grids > provide Transverse & Longitudinal grids

Step 3:) Manage > Coordinates > Specify coodinates at point >Click on the interesection of two grids > Give N-S/E-W direction coordinates as 0

Step 5:)Keep the project base point coordinates 0,0 for all directions

Result: Project base point & Shared coordinates were created in architectural model
Question:3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)
Aim: To make architectural model as Central Model
Step 1:) Open > Architectural Model >Ok

Step 2:) Collabrate > Collabrate model

Step 3:) collabrate within your network > ok

Step 4:) Click Save > Save file as central file > yes

Result: Architectural model made central model
Question:4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
Aim: To create horizontal & transverse grids
Step 1:) Architecture > Grids
Step 2:) Draw grids at 5 meter intervals in both directions

Result: Grids were created
Question:5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
Aim: To save changes from local copy to central file
Step1:)Collaborate > Synchronize with central > Synchronize & modify settings

Step:2) Compact central model > Ok

Result: Synchronized with central model
Question:6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
Aim: Make structural file as central model
Step 1:) Open > Structural file > Ok

Step 2:) Collabrate > Collabrate model

Step 3:) collabrate within your network > ok

Step 4:) Click Save > Save file as central file > yes

Result: Structural model made central model
Question:7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
Aim: To Copy Monitor from architectural to structural grid
Step 1:) Open Structural model
Step 2:) Insert > Revit link > Add Architectural file > ok

Step 3:) Collaborate > Copy monitor > Select link

Step 4:) Tick"Multiple" > Drag and select all architecture grids > Finish

Step 5:) Copy monitor > Tick" Finish"

Result: Arcitectural grids and structutal grids are aligned with copy monitor
Question:8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
Aim: Create another central file to merge structural and architectural
Step:1) New > Construction template > Ok

Step:2) Collaborate > Collaborate - to make construction template as Central file

Step:3) Insert > Link revit > "Architectural & Structural" > Ok

Result: Architectural & Structural is collaborated into construction template
Question:9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
Aim: To check if architectural & structural models grids are matching in construction template

Result: Structural & Architectural links collaborated with construction template
Question:10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
Answer:
