Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.

AIM:-

To open an architectural tab and set project base pooint and project shared coordinates using manage tab for the project.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open revit and select architectural template.

  • Select architectural tab and select grid tool.

  • Draw the grid lines.

  • Rename the grid.

  • Go to manage tab and select specific coordinate option.

  • Then select horizontal grid and set it to 0'-0''.

  • Repeat the same procedure for vertical grid.

  • Save the project as residential Building_Architect.

RESULT:-

we can set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model.

AIM:-

To open another structural template and set the project parameters as we did in the architectural model.Copy the parameters from architectural to structural model.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open revit and select structural template.

  • Save the project as residential building_structural.

RESULT:-

We have created a structural template and set the coordinates of the grid lines drawn and save them with appropriate name.

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model).

AIM:-

To use the tools under collaborate tab to make the architectural model a central model.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open the architectural model.

  • Select collaborate tab and click on collabrate tool.
  • Collaborate dialog box appears.
  • Select within your network and click ok.

RESULT:-

We can collaborate to make the architectural model as central model.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2.

AIM:-

To create longitudinal and transverse pattern for the project.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open the architectural template.
  • Select grid tool.
  • Draw the horizontal grids at equal spacing of 30'.
  • Draw the vertical grids at equal spacing of 30'.

  • Rename the grids as per rerquirements.

RESULT:-

We have drawn the horizontal and vertical grid lines at equal apacing of 30' .

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

AIM:-

To synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open the revit file.
  • From collaborate tab select synchronize with central option.

  • Select synchronize and modify setting option.
  • Then synchronize with central dialogbox appears and click ok.

RESULT:-

We can synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

AIM:-

To open the structural model and use collaborate tool to save the model as a central file.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open the structural template.
  • Go to collaborate tab and select collaborate option.

  • A collaborate dialog box will appear.
  • Select within the network and press ok.

  • Save the project.

RESULT:-

We can collaborate to make the structural model as central model.

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model.

AIM:-

To select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor copy the grids to the structural model.

PROCEDURE:-

  • First open the architectural tab and select collaborate and click on copy monitor option.

  • Select the link so that the structural drawing is linked.

  • Select the grid and levels and multiple then click copy.

  • Click on finish command.
  • Open the structural template,we can see the grids and columns in structural template.

RESULT:-

We can copy the grids and levels from the architecture model to structural model using the copy monitor option.

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

AIM:-

To create new construction template and save it as central model where both the architectural and structural model are present.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open a new file and save it as construction template.
  • Select collaboration tab and select collaborate the file as central file option.

  • Click on manage tab and select manage link option.

  • Select both architectural and structural templates and click ok.

RESULT:-

We have created a new construction template and we can add the links where we can achieve both the structural and architectural templates in one file.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner.

AIM:-

To match the grids of the architectural ans structural template if not matched using shared coordinates and linking options under manage tab.

PROCEDURE:-

  • Open a new architectural template.
  • Select manage tab and click on manage links and select structural template drawing.
  • We can see both the grids in the architectural template, but they will not be matching/coinciding.

  • Select the architectural grids and select acquired coordinates and select the architectural template grid.
  • Using relocate option select the place where we can move the grids.

  • After this process both the structural and architectural grids will be coincided.

RESULT:-

Hence, both the architectural and structural grids will be overlapped.

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously.

ANS:- In the below flow chart we can observe a tree setup in terms of construction model:
