Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

ANS 1 - Aim-to set base point and shared coordinate on architectural template

Procedure 1. open a new architectural tamplate.

2. go to manage tab, create two grid lines,

3. specify coordinate as 0,0 at intersection

Result- i have set base point and shared coordinate on architectural template

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

ANS 2 - Aim-to set project parameters same as before in structural template

Procedure 1. open a new structural template

2. copy grids from architectural and paste on structural

3. specify base point from manage tab

Result- i have set project parameters same as before in structural template

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)

ANS 3 - Aim- to made architectural model a central model.

Procedure 1. open architectural model

2. go to collaborate tab and select collaborate in local network

Result- I have made architectural model a central model.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2

ANS 4 - Aim-to create a grid layout for a project model.

Procedure 1. in architectural tab select grid and create with proper naming

Result- I have created a grid layout for a project model.

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

ANS 5 - Aim-to syncronise changes from local copy to central file.

Procedure 1. go to collaborate tab and select syncronise with central file

Result- I have syncronised changes from local copy to central file

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

ANS 6 - Aim- to save structural file as a central file.

Procedure 1. open the structural file .

go to collaborate tab, enable collaboration and save the file as central file.

Result- I have saved structural file as a central file.

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

ANS 7 - Aim-to copy the grids and level to the structural model.

Procedure 1. go to structural model.

2. from collaborate tab, select copy monitor select architectural model and paste in structural model.

3. move to model to align with structural grids

Result- I have copied the grids and level to the structural model.

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

ANS 8 - Aim- to create a construction template and link structural and architectural models to it.

Procedure 1. 1. create new construction projct

2. enable collaboration and save it as central file.

3. open manage tab. add both projects in the construction model.

4. reflect changes in central model to save progress.

Result- I have created a construction template and linked structural and architectural models to it.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

ANS 9 - Aim- to match the grids of both template to same position.

Procedure 1. open combined construction file

2. select any template and move it to the reference of second project.

Result- I have matched the grids of both template to same position.

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously

ANS 10 - in this exercise we created two different project architectural and structural and inserted them in a combined construction template by common coordinate so that two different people can work together.

this way various others people can also join the work in same model, as electrical design, plumbing design, etc
