Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.
ANS.
- For opening the architectural templet file go to the file menu and then select the new option
- Then a dialogue box will appear, select architectural template option and then press enter
- Hence architectural template file is opened.

- Now for the project base point go to the manage toolbar
- Now select ucs option on the manage toolbar and select the horizontal line and then enter the value "0" in the appeared dialogue box.
- Now select ucs option on the manage toolbar and select the vertical line and then enter the value "0" in the appeared dialogue box.
- Hence co-ordinates are given for the drawing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
ANS.
- For opening the structural templet file go to the file menu and then select the new option
- Then a dialogue box will appear, select structural template option and then press enter
- Hence structural template file is opened.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model).
ANS.
- Open the file with architectural template.
- Now go to the Collaborate toolbar and then click on the collaborate option.

- Now after selecting the collaborate option a dialogue box will appear select "Collaborate within your Network" option.
- And the centrel model is created.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
ANS.
- For the creation of the grid go to the architectural toolbar and then select the grid option and draw grid as per the given data.

- Now draw the horizontal grid from A to E at 10' distance from one-another.
- Now draw the vertical grid from 1 to 10 at 20' distance from one-another.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
ANS.
- For the synchronization of the changes go to the collaborate toolbar.
- Select the "Synchronization with central" tool bar.
- Hence the Changes made in the drawing has been synchronized.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
ANS.
- Open the file with structural template.
- Now go to the Collaborate toolbar.
- Select the "Synchronization with central" tool bar.
- Hence the Changes made in the drawing has been synchronized.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
ANS.
- For coping the grid to the structural template from architectural template.
- Go to the Collaborate toolbar.
- Now select the Copy/Monitor option.
- Now select copy option and ten select the grid to be copied.

- Now open the structural template and ten follow the process to paste the copied element in the template.
- hence the grid lines are copied from architectural template to structural template.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
ANS.
- For opening the Construction templet file go to the file menu and then select the new option
- Then a dialogue box will appear, select Construction template option and then press enter
- Hence Construction template file is opened.

- After opening the Constrution template Go to the manage toolbar and select the manage the links option.

- Now add the files which are needed to be added in the opened dialogue box.

- Hence the files are linked.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
ANS.
- Yes the grids from structural and architectural model is matching in the construction template created and has been set for the project 2.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
ANS.
