Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
AIM: - Set the base point of the project using the manage tab and project shared coordinates for the project
Commands used: -
Collaborate
Architectural
Grids
Manage
Procedure: -
- Select the Architectural tab and select grids and draw the grids
- Rename the grids

- Select the manage tab and select specify coordinate at point and select one grid and specify as 0'0"

- Select the specify coordinate at a point and select another grid and specify 0'0"

- Type VG, in the model categories select SITE>click PROJECT BASE POINT.

- drag the circle into project shared coordinates.

Results: -

2) Open another new file but with structural template. Using manage tab set project parameters same as architectural model. Copy the parameters from architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually to the structural model
AIM: - Create a structural template and using the manage tab select the parameters same as architectural template
Commands Used: -
Structural
Grid
Manage
Specify coordinate at a point
Collaborate
Procedure: -
- Select the structural tab and select grid
- Draw the grids
- Rename the grids

- Select the manage tab and select specify coordinate at a point and give the value as 0'0" for both the grids

- Type VG, in the model categories select SITE>click PROJECT BASE POINT.

- Drag the circle into project shared coordinates.

- Save the file with appropriate name
Results: -
3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under Collaborate tab make the architectural model as a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)
AIM: - Collaborate the drawing
Commands Used: -
Collaborate
Procedure: -
- Open the arch template file in Revit
- select the collaborate tab and select collaborate
- Option will appear as how will be collaborate the file

- Select the option within the network and press ok and save the file, click yes.

Result: -

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
AIM: - Create Longitudinal and Transverse pattern
Commands
Architectural
Grids
Procedure: -
- open the arch template file in Revit
- Select the architectural tab and select grids
- Draw the grids in equal distance say 30'
- Draw the grid and select the grid and select the distance and click and make it as 30'
- With the same procedure draw transverse and longitudinal grids and save the file
- Rename the grids as per standards

Results: -

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of architectural model.
AIM: - Synchronize the changes from local copy to central file of architectural
Commands used: -
Manage
Synchronize tab
Procedure: -
- open the file in Revit
- Select the manage tab and select synchronize tab and click ok

- The drawing with will synced with the central file
Result: -

6) Open the structural model and use collaborate tools to save the model as central file.
AIM: - Collaborate Structural model as a central file
Commands used: -
Collaborate
Procedure: -
Open the structural template in the Revit
Select the collaborate tab and select collaborate
Select the collaborate within your network and save it as saving for the first time it will make a central file

Result: -

7) Under Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from architectural model and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
AIM: - Using collaborate tab, select grids and levels from architectural model and copy it to structural model using copy monitor
Commands used: -
Collaborate
copy monitor
select link
copy
Procedure: -
- open the architectural tab and select collaborate tab select copy monitor and select link so my structural drawing is linked
- select the grids and levels and select multiple and select copy
- select the finish command
- open the structural template file and grids and columns will be found in structural template

Result: -

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
AIM: - Create Construction template and save it as central model and link both architectural and structural files
Commands used: -
Manage
Manage links
Procedure: -
- Open the new file and save it as a construction template
- Select the collaborate tab and collaborate the file as central file
- Select the manage tab and select manage link
- and select both architectural and structural template and press ok
- Both the files will be opened in the combined one

Results: -

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes, the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
(Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point) to link the models in appropriate manner
AIM: - Insert the grids from structural template to architectural template and check whether it is coinciding with each other
Commands used: -
Manage
manage links
acquire coordinates
position
Relocate position
Procedure: -
- open the architectural template and select manage tab
- In the manage tab select manage links as select the structural template drawing
- Both the grids will appear in the arch template and it's coinciding.
