Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
Aim:
To set a base point and coordinate point for a shared project.
Procedure:
Step 1: Using the Architecture tab, Grids are drawn and are named accordingly,
Step 2: Go to the Manage tab and select Coordinates - Specify Coordinates at point

Step 3: In the Specify Shared Coordinates Enter the values as 0 and click on OK.

Step 4: If you need to hide the coordinates type in VG and expand site and select the visibility check box if needed.

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
Aim:
To create a structural template and set project parameters the same as the architectural model.
Procedure:
Step 1: Using the structural tab, the Grids are drawn and are named accordingly.
Step 2: Go to the Manage tab and select Coordinates - Specify Coordinates at the point and set the value as 0

Step 3: Go to VG and check the site check box.

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)
Aim:
To make the architectural model a central model,
Procedure:
Step 1: Save the file with the appropriate name and select collaborate
Step 2: Select within your network option to create a central file of the model.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
Aim:
To create grids in longitudinal and transverse patterns
Procedure:
Step 1: Grids are drawn with 10' and 20' distance in the longitudinal and transverse direction and save it.

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model
Aim:
To synchronize the changes from the local copy to a central file.
Procedure:
From the collaborate tab, select synchronize with the central tab and select OK to synchronize the file.

6) Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
Aim:
To save the structural model as a central file.
Procedure:
Step 1: Save the file with the appropriate name and select collaborate
Step 2: Select your network option to create a central file of the model.

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
Aim:
Using the collaborate tab, select the grids and level from the architectural model, and copy the grids to the structural model using the Copy monitor.
Procedure:
Step 1: From Collaborate tool, select copy monitor and select the grids and levels to be copies
Step 2: After copying, click finish.

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
Aim:
To link both architectural and structural files.
Procedure:
Step 1: Create a new construction template and make it the central file
Step 2: From the manage tab, from manage links select architectural and structural files and attach to this file.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
Aim:
Match architectural and structural grinds
Procedure:
Step 1: Select the link and move it to the desired location so as to match both the grids as shown below.

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
Aim:
To create a flow chart of the project tree setup.
