Challenge

Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT

Q 1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set the project base point and project shared coordinates for the project?

Aim:- To set the project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.

Procedure:-

  1. open a new architectural template file.
  2. I had drawn a horizontal & one vertical grid.
  3. Now, to create project shared coordinates go to the manage >coordinates> specify coordinates at the point.
  4. In East/West provide 0'0".
  5. To define the project base point go to VG(visibility/graphic) > site > Project Base Point.

Result:- project share coordinate and project base point have been created.

Q 2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural?

Aim:- To create a structural template with the same parameters as the architectural project template.

Procedure:-

  1. open a new project file with Structural Templet.
  2. go to structure> grids and draw two grids, one horizontal & other vertical.

  3. Now, to create project shared coordinates go to the manage >coordinates> specify coordinates at the point.
  4. in east/west put 0'0".
  5. To define the project base point go to VG(visibility/graphic) > site > Project Base Point.

Result:- The project parameters are created in the structural plan.

Q 3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab makes the architectural model a central model.

Aim:- To make the architectural model a central model.

Procedure:-

  1. Open the Architectural file
  2. to make this file a central model go to collabrate>collabrate within your network.
  3. Now, save the project as a central model.

Result:- Collaboration of the architectural model is done.

Q 4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2.

Aim:- To create the Grid's Longitudinal and Transverse pattern

Procedure:-

  1. to create the grid's go-to architecture > grids>pick line>offset(3500)

Result:-

Q 5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

Aim:- To synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

Procedure:-

  1. to synchronize go to collaborate> synchronize with central> synchronize and modify settings

Result:- synchronization of the architectural model has been done.

6) Open the structural model and use the collaboration tools to save the model as a central file.

Aim:- To set the structural model as a central file using the collaboration tools.

Procedure:-

  1. open the structural file.
  2. to set this file as central go to collaborate> collabrate>collabrate within your network.
  3. Now, save the project as a central model.

Result:- Collaboration of the structural model is done.

Q 7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

Aim:- By using the copy monitor tool, copy the grids in the architectural model to the structural model.

Procedure:-

  1. First, we have to link the architectural model to the structural model, for that go to Insert> link Revit> architectural challenge 6
  2. Both models has been linked.
  3. Now to copy grids from the architectural model to the structural model go to collabrate>copy monitor>select link
  4. here we can see a dialogue box, go to copy>multiple>select all architectural grids>finish

Result:- architectural grids have been copied to the structural model using copy monitor tool.

Q 8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural models. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

Aim:- To create another new file with a construction template, and include both architectural and structural models.

Procedure:-

  1. Open a new file as a construction template.
  2. go to collabrate>collabrate within your network and save the file as a central model.
  3. Again save the construction model file.
  4. Now, link both architectural and structural models for that go to insert>Link Revit>architectural and structural models one by one.
  5. To check whether both models have been added or not for that go to manage>manage links.
  6. check is successful.
  7. Save the file and closed it.

Result:- both model had be linked with construction model.

Q 9) Are the grids from the structural and architectural models matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links.

Aim:- To check the grids from the structural and architectural models matching in the construction template created or not.

Procedure:-

  1. open the construction file which is created & check the grids are matching or not.
  2. Checked and the grids are matching.
  3. saved the file as 'Project 2'.

Result:- Yes, my architectural model & structural model are matching in the construction project (as construction template) created. therefore my week_6 challenge is set as "Project 2".

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of the Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously

Answer:- Revit is BIM software. It makes our work very easy, several people can work at once by work sharing and collaboration in Revit.

Construction Model

  • Site access
  • Logistics & Storage
  • Quality Control
  • Outstanding contract details
  • Outstanding design-related challenges
  • Safety

For Architecture Model

  1. Conceptual design
  2. Schematic design
  3. Design development
  4. Construction documents
  5. Construction Administration

2. For Structural Model

  1. Structural Design
  2. Structural Analysis
