Usage of Collaborate tool in REVIT
Q1. Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
ANS :
AIM : To set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open REVIT software and in that open Architectural template
Save the file by giving appropriate name to it.
Go to Architectural tab in that select grid and draw one traverse grid line and one longitudinal grid line.

STEP 2 : Go to manage tab in that select project coordinates and in that select Specify coordinates at points
Select grid line and specify shared coordinate of North/South as 0.0 and Select another grid line and specify shared coordinates of East/West as 0.0

STEP 3 : Go to View tab select visibility graphics in that go to site and select project base point and give North/South and East/West as 0.0

RESULT : The project base point and shared coordinates are created by using appropriate tools from REVIT

Q2. Open another new file but with a structural template. Using the manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
ANS :
AIM : To create structural template with the same parameters as architectural project template
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open new file in that select Structural template and press ok
Save the file by giving appropriate name to it.

STEP 2 : Go to Architectural tab in that select grid and draw one traverse grid line and one longitudinal grid line.

STEP 3 : Go to manage tab in that select project coordinates and in that select Specify coordinates at points
Select grid line and specify shared coordinate of North/South as 0.0 and Select another grid line and specify shared coordinates of East/West as 0.0

STEP 4 : Go to View tab select visibility graphics in that go to site and select project base point and give North/South and East/West as 0.0

RESULT : The project parameters are created as per the Architectural template in Structural template.

Q3. Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model (enabling simultaneous working on the model)
ANS :
AIM : To create architectural model a central model using collaborate tool.
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open the Architectural template file which has been saved earlier
Select collaborate tab and in that select collaborate. You will get a dialogue box with two options in that select the option within your network and press ok.

RESULT : The Architectural model is made central model using collaborate tool.

Q4. Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
ANS :
AIM : To create grids in longitudinal and transverse pattern
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : In Architectural tab select grids in that select pick lines and give offset of 10’ in longitudinal pattern and 15’ in transverse pattern.

RESULT : The grids are created in both longitudinal and transverse pattern

Q5. Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
ANS :
AIM : To synchronize the changes from local copy to central file.
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Go to collaborate tab select synchronize with central and press ok. So that the drawing will be synced with central file.

RESULT : The synchronize is done

Q6. Open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
ANS :
AIM : To open the structural model and use the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open the Structural template file which has been saved earlier
Select collaborate tab and in that select collaborate. You will get a dialogue box with two options in that select the option within your network and press ok.

STEP 2 : Go to collaborate tab select synchronize with central and press ok. So that the drawing will be synced with central file.

RESULT : The Structural model is made central model using collaborate tool and synchronize with central.

Q7. Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
ANS :
AIM : Using collaborate tab, select grids and levels from the Architectural model and copy it to Structural model using copy monitor.
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open the Architectural template file and go to insert tab and select revit link and link the structural template to the architectural template file.

STEP 2 : Go to Collaborate tab and select copy monitor and select link so structural drawing is linked. Select grids and levels and select multiple and select copy and finish the command.
Go to view and select visibility graphics and go to revit links and unselect the Structural template file. So, that we can get to know whether Structural template is copied or not.

RESULT : Using collaborate tab, grids and levels from the Structural model are copied to Architectural model using copy monitor.

Q8. Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
ANS :
AIM : To create a new file with a construction template which includes both Architectural and Structural model
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open new file in that open Constructional template and Save the file by giving appropriate name to it.

STEP 2 : Select the collaborate tab and collaborate the file as central file.
Go to manage tab and select the manage link and Add Architectural and Structural file and press ok.
So that the both the files are opened in the combined one.

RESULT : New file with a construction template is created which includes both Architectural and Structural model

Q9. Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
ANS :
AIM : Insert the grids from structural template to Architectural template and check whether it is matching with each other.
PROCEDURE :
STEP 1 : Open Architectural template file and go to manage tab in that select manage link and add Structural template file to Architectural template file.

STEP 2 : Both the grid lines are not coinciding with each other

STEP 3 : Select the position icon in manage tab and select relocate position and select the intersection points of the grids. Therefore the grids are positioned.

RESULT : Structural Template and Architectural Template are coinciding in the Construction Template created.

Q10. List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
ANS :

Multiple people can work on the same project depending on the project they are working on REVIT software.
