Underbody Coating

What is Under Body Coating:

Under body coating is a thin cover or a coating that is either sprayed or painted over the under body of your car. It is usually done just as soon as the the car is new and out of the shop before getting any dirt but it can also be done later.

Why Under Body Coating:

Under body coating is a necessity. It helps in protecting the the under body of a car , the internal parts, inner cavities that are not physically accessible from damages due to corrosion.

Under Body Coating Process:

• Inspection:Car is hoisted on a lift and inspected for damages.
  
  
• Cleaning:The under body is cleaned thoroughly.
  
  
• Protective Coating:Silencer is coated with a protective coating to prevent the under body coating from sticking to it.
  
  
• Under Body Coating:The under body coating is sprayed or painted over the under body evenly.
  
  
• Zinc Coating: The silencer’s protective coating is removed and a zinc coating is provided to it.
  
  

Types of Under Body Coating:

• Rubberized Under Body Coating:It is the best under body coating. It is hassle free and provides necessary protection.
  
  
• Wax Based Under Body Coating: This is the most cheap and common under body coating available. It provides the basic protection but it wears away in a few months time.
  
  
• Asphalt Based Under Body Coating: This coating is provided for larger vehicles, like buses and trucks. It provides more advanced protection than rubber based coating, but is more time consuming and provides little noise reduction.
  
  
• Polyurethane Under Body Coating:This coating bonds with the metal and we can paint over it. It closes splits and fractures on the under body.
  
  
  

Advantages of Under Body Coating:

• Prevents corrosion:It helps in preventing corrosion by providing a protective layer.
  
  
• Heat insulation :Provides an insulation that minimizes heat transfer to interior of the cabin.
  
• Noise Reduction :Since rubber is used as a material in under body coating, some noise reduction is seen in the interior of the cabin.

Disadvantages of Under Body Coating:

• Expensive :Under Body coating will be an extra expense.
