Underbody Coating
Report for the above challenge is as follows :-
Underbody coating is layer of chemical compound applied on the outer body to protect it from corrosion and general wear and tear.
Types of Underbody coating are :-
1.Rubberrized Underbody coating - This is genarally best form of coating applied on the outer body and easy to apply undercarriege as well, it protects the car body from minor scratches.

2. Wax Based underbodycoating :-
This underbody coating done to prevent the outerbody from moister. It is most affordable due to less cost but it does not last long and comes out after few months.
3. Asphalt based Underbody coating :-
This is generally applied on large vehicles like trucks and lorries and it provide better protection as compared to ruberized coating. This coating contains a little amount of rubber for better sound insulation.
4. Polyurethane underbody coating:-
It covers minor splits and fractures of the vehicle's underbody and provide excellent corrorion resistance and also binds with the metal. Unlike the asphalt coating we can paint over the polyurethane coating.
Advantages -
- Corrosion resistance - Since a vehicle has to face different environment conditions, normal wear and tear and corrosion becomes the major issue because of which it gets damaged easily, so to protect the vehicle outer body underbody caoting is necessary.
- Aborb Noise - A thick underbody coating can soften the noises that reach the cabin. The rackets can be avoided to some extent by underbody coating because the rubber dampens the noise to some level.
- Reinforcement - If the automobile already has one coating, applying another coat will add to its benefits. The factory coat will last longer and it will protect the body from water, pebbles and small debris.
- Prolong's car life - If the body is exposed to less wear and tear it increases overall usability of the vehicle as it will have less dents and damages compared to the cars without underbody coating.
Disadvantages -
- Cost for the underbody coating can very depending on the model of the vehicle.
- Life of coating is less and you have to reapply the coating time to time when it comes off.
