UNDERBODY COATING

Underbody coating prevents car underbody from against rust corrasion and provides protection from corrasion to car's underbody. It also protects parts like inner body panel, frame railsand other inner cavities that are not physically accesible but prone to corrosion.

UNDERBODY COATING PROCESS:

Underbody coating process consist of five steps,

1.Pre treatment removes and cleans the excess matal and forms an appropriate surface structure enabling bonding of corrasion protection layer.

2.Electrodeposition of anti-corrosion or rust prevention layer.

3.Sealer like poly vinyl chloride (PVC) is applied for anti-corrosion, elimination of water leaks nad minimisation of chipping and vibrational noise.

4.Primer is then applied to promote adhesion between surface and the base coat. It alao impartrs a smoother surface for subsequent layers and anti chipping properties.

5.Top coat that includes base coat and clear coat applied. They provide surface properties that are sought after , including colour , appearnace , gloss , sm0othness and wether resistance.

UNDERBODY COATING TYPES:

Underbody coating are various based on the materials used and cost of the materila used,

1.Rubberized underbody coating - These are easy to apply and offer sound-cushioning as well as protection from dust, moisture and dents. The coatings are safe even to use on wheel wells and quarter panels nad when it is dryed forms a soft rubbery finish that prevents further rust and moisture seep.

2.Polyurethane underbody coating - This type of underbody coating are little quicker and easy to apply.This type of under coating offten comes in cannister reaty to preload on application gun.This type of coating always requires surface prepartion to apply.

3.Wax base underbody coating- This type of coating os cheapest amnd quick way. But this coating lasts only a duration of year.

4.Asphalt based underbody coating - It is mainly used for lght commercial vechiles. For vechiles like trucks,buses,vans etc.These provise sufficiant protection against rock chips and moisture. Asphalt based underbody coating are little rubbised that sets firmly and helps in reduction of noise.

BENIFITS OF UNDERBODY COATING:

Minimizes the sound - It minimizes the sound from underneath the car.

Heat insulation - It insulates the interior of car from heat from beneath the car.

Anti chipping properties - The coating does not chip away when hit by stones.
