Underbody Coating
Underbody coating:
Underbody coating is a process of applying a coating uniformly to the undercarriage of the automobile. It is normally sparyed or painted to the undercarriage of the automobile. This coating prevents the vehicle from rust formation.

Purpose of Underbody coating:
- Prevents from Rust formation and corrosion
- Minimizes the noise
- Gives extra reinforcement
- Increases the car's life
- Reduces the heat comes from under
- Prevents from scratches
Types of Underbody coating:
1.Rubberized underbody coating.
This coating is a synthetic rubber based paintable or sprayable coating process. It gives high corossion resistance to undercarriage and other parts. It is highly compatible with PVC underbody coatings. It is available in different colors.
2.Wax based underbody coating.
This a wax, polymers and anticorrosive additives based coating. It is a fast drying and thin layer of coating gives a good water protecting film. It is primarly used on wax coated underbodies.
3.Asphalt based underbody coating.
This coating is suitable for lorries, trucks and heavy vehicle. This gives extra life and duriablity against rocks, rust and stones.
4.Polyurethene underbody coating.
This coating closes up cracks and fractures on the underbody of the automobile. It offers good protection against corrosion and bonds well with metal parts.
Process of Underbody coating:
Pretreatment: Removes & clean oils and extra metal from the surface of the parts and enables the better bond with the metal parts.
Electrodeposition: In this process the automobile body is dipped in a tank to coat where the sparays
Rustproof material: In this process PVC or Urethane coating is applied on the surface of the part.
Primer: The main reason of the primer is increasing the adhesion between the coating and metal. It can be water-borne, solvent-borne and a powder.
Top-coat:This is the final step of the coating process. It consists of two layers Base-coat and clear coat. It provides the protective coating against rust, moisture and scratches.
