Underbody Coating
UNDERBODY COATING
Underbody coating is usually a dense cladding (often based on rubber) applied uniformly to the undercarriage of the automobile. It is normally sprayed or painted on when the car is just out of the dealership and is clean.
Purpose
The main purpose of undercoating is to check rust especially in the body components like frame rails along with other exposed metal parts. Underbody coating can also reduce wear and tear.
In Indian roads car underbody is prone to rust easily as because of the seasonal & humid conditions.
That is why underbody coating is very important.
Uderbody Coating identification is given below the image.

Types of the Underbody Coating
1. Rubberised Underbody Coating
2. Wax-based Underbody Coating
3. Asphalt-based Underbody Coating
4.Polyurethane Underbody Coating
Detail about all the types
1. Rubberised Underbody Coating
It is an easy-to-use black rubberized protective coating. It provides corrosion protection from water, salt and other chemicals. Its helps deaden sound and provides a barrier against rust on cars, trucks, trailers and other recreational vehicles.

2. Wax-based Underbody Coating
Wax Underbody Coating Spray is a solvent containing, bitumen free anticorrosive agent based on wax, polymers and anticorrosive additives. The product can be precision and exhibits excellent sag resistance. It is fast drying, and even in a thin layer thickness it forms a closed water protecting film.

3. Asphalt based underbody coating
Suitable for lorries, trucks, and other heavy vehicles. In comparison to rubber-based coatings, this gives a higher level of protection. Asphalt-based coatings, on the other hand, incorporate a small quantity of rubber for sound insulation. The application of this coating, however, takes some time.

4. Polyurethane underbody coating
This coating closes up splits and fractures on the underbody of the vehicle. It offers up good protection against corrosion and also bonds with the metal.

Pros and Cons of Underbody Coating
1. It could help to reduce interior noise.
2. It can be self-applied.
3. It will Extend the Life & Value of your Vehicle.
4. Undercoating should still be visually inspected annually to ensure integrity.
