Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

1. G+1 BUIDLING

AIM:- Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.

PROCEDURE:-

B. Dead load of components

a. Beams(first floor)

  • Beams are only provided on the main walls.

1.Living(3.1m*4.5m)

  • Centre to centre distance = 3.1*2 + 4.5*2 = 15.2m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

    2. Corridor(1.90*4.90)

  • Centre to centre distance = 1.9*1= 1.9m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

3.Pooja Room(2.70x1.80)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.7*2+1.8*2= 9m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

4. Dining(2.70x2.50)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.7*1+2.5*2 = 7.7m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

5. Toilet (2.70 x 2.00)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.7*1+2.0*2 =6.7m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

6. kitchen (2.70x3.50)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.7*1+3.5*2 = 9.7m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

7.Work area(2.80 x 2.30)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.8*2+2.3*1= 7.9m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

8.MASTER BEDROOM(2.20 x 3.50)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.20*2+3.5*2= 11.4m

9.Toilet 1(2.20 x 2.0)

  • Centre to centre distance = 2.20*1+2.0*1= 4.2m
  • Length of joineries needs to be deducted.

Total centre line length of beams for first floor = 15.2+1.9+9+7.7+6.7+9.7+7.9+11.4+4.2= 73.7m

let us assume the Beam dimension be - 300*450 mm²

Length of the beam -73.7m

Unit weight of concrete = 25 KN/m³

Volume of concrete = Area of beam* length of beam

Volume of concrete = 0.3m * 0.45m * 73.7 m = 9.95 m³

Self weight of Beam, B1= Volume of concrete * Unit weight of concrete

  • The specified code has menntioned the minimum load to be considered for all type of building according for all type of building according to their occupancy in Table 1.

for residential building

All rooms and kitchens , Live load = 2 KN/m²

Toilet and bathrooms , Live loads = 2 KN/m²

In case of stares, live load = 3 KN/m²

3.wind loads

  • Here no need to consider wind loads as the buiding height is less than 10m
