AIM : To draw a G+2 residential building structure, to name thjevarious structural drawing required on site for the construction & to determine the different loads on the structure.

PROCEDURE :

Sketch of a G+2 floor residential plan is attached .

The structural drawings required to be provided on site for the construction are as follows

  • Foundation excavation plan
  • Footing section
  • Ground floor column plan
  • Column section
  • Ground floor plinth beam
  • Plinth beam section
  • Ground floor beam
  • Beam section
  • Ground floor slab bottom & top rebar

same drawings required as per floor thar are mentioned above

The loading calculations for the resedential building are as follows

Assumptions required for the loading calculations are as follows :

  • G+2 residential building
  • Beam size 230x450 mm (No. of beams as per drawing = 78
  • column size 230x380 mm (rctangular section ) (No. of columns as per drawing = 19)
  • slab 125 mm thickness
  • floor to floor height 3 m
  • location of structure = Pune

A. Dead load calculations : (as per IS 875 Part 1)

i. Beam (no. of floor =3)

Dead load = density x widthxdepth

Dead load = 25x0.23x0.45

Dead load = 2.58 KN/M

Toatl dead load = dead load x no. of beam

Total dead load = 2.58x26x3

Total dead load = 201.285 KN/M

ii. Column

Dead load = density xwidthxdepth

Dead load = 25x0.23x0.38

Dead load = 2.185 KN/M

Total dead load = Dead load x no. of column

Total dead load = 2.185x19

Total dead load = 41.515 KN/M

iii. Slab

Dead load = density x thickness

Dead load = 25x0.125

Dead load = 3.125 kn/m^2

Total dead load = Dead load x no. of floor

Total dead load = 3.125x3

Total dead load = 9.375 KN/M ^2

iv. Wall

Dead load = density x height x thickness

Dead load = 20x3x0.23

Dead load = 13.8 KN/M

Total dead load = Dead load x no. of floor

Total dead load = 13.8x3

Total dead load = 41.4 KN/M

B. Live load calculations : (as per IS 875 part 2, Table no.1 )

i. live load for living room = 2 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 2 ) hence live load of living room = 2x2 = 4 KN/M^2

ii. live load for kitchen = 2 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 2 ) hence live load of living room = 2x2 = 4 KN/M^2

iii. live load for bedroom = 2 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 8 ) hence live load of living room = 2x8 = 16 KN/M^2

iv. live load for bathroom = 2 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 2 ) hence live load of living room = 2x2 = 4 KN/M^2

v. live load for balcony = 3 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 6 ) hence live load of living room = 3x6 = 18 KN/M^2

vi. live load for staircase = 3 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 2 ) hence live load of living room = 3x2 = 6 KN/M^2

vii. live load for toilet = 2 KN/M^2 (No. of rooms in building = 6 ) hence live load of living room = 2x6 = 12 KN/M^2

Total live load = 64 KN/M^2

C. Wind load calculations :(as per IS 875 part 3 )

Factors considered according to the structure & loaction as follows:

Region = pune

Height of each storey = 3 m

Terrain category = 4

Topography = flat

Bay distance = 3.65 m

To identify wind load the followings should be determined

i. Design wind speed

ii. Design wind pressure

iii. Wind load

i. Design wind speed: ( as per IS 875 Part 3, cl 6.3)

vz= vbxk1xk2xk3xk4

vb= wind velocity

k1 = probability factor

k2 = terrain roughness factor

k3 = topography factor

k4 = importance factor

vb =39x1x1x1x0.8

vb = 31.2 m/s

ii. Design wind pressure : ( as per IS 875 Part 3, cl 7.2)

pz=0.6xvz^2

pz= design wind pressure

vz = wind speed

pz = 0.6x31.2^2

pz = 0.584 KN/M^2 ( @ for 3 m )

pz = 0.584 KN/M^2 ( @ for 6 m )

iii. Wind load for whole building : ( as per IS 875 Part 3, cl 7.4)

f = cf x Aex pz

cf = force coefficient for the building

Ae = effective frontal width for 1 m width = spacing of bay x 1m height = 3.65x1 = 3.65 m^2

cf depends on lateral dimensions & height of building

a/b=1 ( as per IS 875 Part 3, pg no. 35)

a & b = lateral dimensions of building

h/b=0.77 ( as per IS 875 Part 3, pg no. 35)

h= height of building

cf = 1 ( as per IS 875 Part 3, pg no. 35)

Therefore wind load f :

f= 1x3.65x0.584

f=2.13 KN/M

Wind load distribution according to floor :

wind load @ ground floor = wind load x height of floor = 2.13x3 = 6.39 KN/M

wind load @ first floor = wind load x height of floor = 2.13x3 = 6.39 KN/M

wind load @ second floor = wind load x height of floor = 2.13x3 = 6.39 KN/M

Total wind load = 19.17 KN/M^2

RESULT:

Total dead load = 201.285 KN/M

Total live load = 64 KN/M^2

Total wind load = 19.17 KN/M^2
