Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.

Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.

Answer:

Aim:

Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.

Assume the sizes of the structural elements Column, Beam, Slab. And accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.

Procedure:

Indian codes:

IS 456:2000 Revised 2016For reinforced concrete structures.

IS 875:1987 Revised 2018 (Part-1) For dead load

IS 875:1987 Revised 2015 (Part-2) For live load

Is 875:1987 Revised 2015 (Part-3) For wind load.

Vastu shastra for plan designing:

*Entrance of the house is provided in East or North direction.

*Living room is placed in North-east direction.

*Master bedroom placed in South-west direction for good health.

*Kitchen is placed in South-east direction.

*Staircase is placed in North-west direction.

List down the names of structural drawing required to be provided to the site for construction:

1)Centre line drawing

2)Footing and column layout with reinforcement details.

3)column schedule with reinforcement details.

4)Plinth beam layout with reinforcement details.

5)First floor beam layout with reinforcement details.

6)First floor slab layout with reinforcement.

7)Lift pit and headroom reinforcement details.

The dimensions are assume:

column size 450 X 450mm X3m.

Beam size 350 X 450mm

Slab thickness=125mm.

Height of wall is =3m.

Wall thickness is =230mm.

Size of column=450 X 450

Dead load of column:

Given that:

Length=0.450m

Width=0.450m

Height of column=Slab thickness + Height of wall.

=0.125+3

=3.125m.

Dead load of column = Total volume of concrete X Unit weight of concrete

Total volume of concrete=Size of column X column height.

=(0.450X0.450)X3.125

=0.632M^3.

Unit weight of reinforced cement concrete=25kn/m^3.

Unit weight of plain cement concrete=24kn/m^3.

Dead load of column=0.632X25

=15.80KN.

No of columns=12

Dead load of columns=15.820 X 12

=189.60KN.

Beam size 350 X 450mm

Dead load of beam:

Given that:

Length=0.350m

Width=0.450m

Dead load of Beam= Total volume of concrete X Unit weight of concrete

Total volume of concrete=0.350X0.450

=0.157M^3.

Unit weight of reinforced cement concrete=25kn/m^3.

Unit weight of plain cement concrete=24kn/m^3.

Dead load of beam=0.157X25

=3.937KN.

Number of beams length in horizontal=20m

number of beams length in another =35m

total length of beams=55m

Dead load beams=Total volume of concrete X Unit weight of concrete

=(0.350 X 0.450X 55 )X 25

=216.5625KN.

Dead load of slab:

Thickness of slab=125mm=0.125m.

Unit weight of concrete=25kn/m^3

Dead load of slab=Thickness of slab X unit weight of concrete.

=0.125 X 25

=3.125kn/m^3.

total area of slab=450m

Dead load of slab=Total volume of concrete X Unit weight of concrete

Total dead of slab=450 X0.125 X25

=1406.25KN.

Dead load of wall:

Height of wall=3m.

Unit weight of brick=20kn/m^3.

Thickness of wall=230mm.=0.23M.

Dead load of wall=Height of wall X Thickness of wall X Unit weight of brick

=3X0.23X20

=13.8KN/M.

Total wall length=128m

Dead load of wall=Total volume of wall X Unit weight of brick

=3 X 0.23 X128X 20

=1766.4KN.

Live load: Live loads are design from code:IS875:Part-2.

Bed room= 2kn/m^2.

Living room= 2kn/m^2.

Dining room= 2kn/m^2.

Kitchen room= 2kn/m^2.

Bath room= 2kn/m^2.

Store room= 3kn/m^2.

Staircase=3kn/m^2.

Wind load:

*The wind loads are calculated when the height of the building exceeds 10m and the wind speed is constant if the height of the building is less than 10m.

*In this plan the height of the building is less than 10m.

*Then we dont require the wind load for this building.

Results:

*The plan is prepared by the vastu shastra concept considering all principals and considerations of vastu shastra.

*The load calculations are done as per the IS code.

*Dead load of columns=189.60KN.

*Dead load of beams=216.562KN.

*Dead load of slab=1406.25KN.

*Dead load of wall=1766.4KN.
