Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code
Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
Aim: To Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
To assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and to calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.

Vastu shastra followed by during the plan:
- Entrance of the house is provided in the east direction which is the symbal of progress in life
- Living room is placed in north east direction
- Master bed room is placed in south west position this direction brings good health and prosperity
- Kitchen is placed in south east direction
- Study room is placed in east direction
- Staircase is placed at north west corner
- Bathroom,wc,and toilet is placed in west direction

Calculation of loads:
Calculation of dead loads
Dead load of the column:
Dimension of column=0.3m*0.3m
Height of column=Slab thickness*2+height of the wall *2=0.25*2+3*2=6.5m
Unit weight of rcc=25 kn/m3
Total volume of the concrete=0.3*0.3*6.5=0.585m3
Dead load of the column=25*0.585=14.62KN
Dead of the beams:
Dimension of the beam=0.3m*0.4m
Volume of the concrete=0.3*0.4*1=0.12m3
Unit weight of the rcc=25kn/m3
Dead load of the beam=25*0.12=3KN
Dead load of slabs:
Slab is always designed for the span of 1m
Hence assume size of the slab is 1m*1m
Thickness of the slab=0.25m
Self weight of the slab is=0.25*25=6.25KN
Dead load of wall:
Dead load of external wall:
Thickness of the external wall=0.23m
Unit weight of the brick wall=20kn/m3
Height of the wall=3m
Load on wall of the beam=3*0.23*25=13.8 kn/m
Dead load of internal wall:
Thickness of internal wall=0.15m
Unit weight of brick wall=20kn/m3
Height of the wall=3m
Load on wall of the beam=3*0.15*20=9Kn/m
Live load calculation:
According to IS 875 (part2)
Bed roomm=2kn/m2
Living room=2kn/m2
Bathroom=2kn/m2
Terrace =3kn/m2
Tailet=2kn/m2
Staircase=3kn/m2
Studyroom=2kn/m2
Kichen=2kn/m2
Wind load calculation:
wind load is designed only height of the building is more than 10m.The height of designed building is 6.5m which is less than 10m.So calculation of wind load is not required
IS code used for the design
IS 875:1987,part1 for dead load
IS 875:1987,Part2 for live load
IS 875:1987,Part3 for wind load
IS 456-2000 for reinforced concrete
Results:
The plan is prepare by vastu shastra concepts considering all the principles and consideration of vastu shastra.The load calculation is done as for the IS code consideration.
