Vaastu Shastra followed during planning is –
- Entrance of the house is provided in the east direction which is the symbol of progress in life
- Living room is placed in northeast direction
- Master bedroom is placed in southwest position this direction brings good health and prosperity
- Study room is placed in east direction
- Staircase is placed at northwest corner.
- Bathroom, WC, and toilet is placed in west direction

Calculation of Loads: -
- Dead Load
- Dead Load of Columns
- Dead load of columns –
Dimension of column = 0.3 m * 0.3 m (300 mm * 300 mm)
Height of Column = (Slab thickness * 2) + (Height of wall of each floor * 2)
Total Volume of concrete = 0.3 * 0.3 * 7 = 0.63 m ^ 3.
Unit weight of RCC = 25 KN / m^3.
Unit weight of building materials used in construction works as per IS 875 (Part -1)
Dead load of columns = 25 * 0.63 = 15.75 KN
- Dead load of Beams
Dimension of column = 0.3 m * 0.45 m (300 mm * 450 mm)
Height of Column = (Slab thickness * 2) + (Height of wall of each floor * 2)
Total Volume of concrete = 0.3 * 0.45 * 1 = 0.135 m ^ 3.
Unit weight of RCC = 25 KN / m^3.
Unit weight of building materials used in construction works as per IS 875 (Part -1)
Dead load of columns = 25 * 0.135 = 3.375 KN
- Dead load of Slab
Slab is always designed for the span of 1m.
Hence assume size of slab as 1 m * 1 m.
Density of RCC = 25 KN/m^3
Self-weight of Slab = 1 * 1 * 0.25 * 25 = 6.25 KN
- Dead load of Walls
Dead load of external wall
Thickness of External Wall = 0.23 m (230 mm)
Unit weight of brick wall = 20 KN / m^3
They are calculated as per the code IS 875 Part 1
Height of wall = 3 m.
Load of wall on beam = 3 * 0.23 * 20 = 13.8 KN.
Dead load of internal wall
Thickness of External Wall = 0.15 m (150 mm)
Unit weight of brick wall = 20 KN / m^3
They are calculated as per the code IS 875 Part 1
Height of wall = 3 m.
Load of wall on beam = 3 * 0.15 * 20 = 9 KN.
- Live Load

- Wind Load Calculations
- The Height of the height is 7 m
- The wind load acting on the structure is not significant whose height is less than10m.
- Therefore
- 5m < 10 m, hence it is safe
- There is no need to design for the win load
Codes used
References and IS codes used for the design-
IS 875 Part 1 for dead load
IS 875 Part 2 for live load
IS 875 Part 3 for wind load
IS 456: 2000 for Reinforced Concrete
Conclusion
- The Residential Plan for G+1 is made in AutoCAD.
- All the Vaastu elements are considered while designing the plan of the house
- The dimensions of beam, Column, thickness of wall and slab are assumed as per IS code.
- Dimensions are in Meters and
