Section Modulus calculation and optimization

CASE 1

The Figure shows the intersect point of the hood components

THE FIGURE SHOWS AN SECTIONAL INERTIA ANALYSIS

Based on the above values the section modulus is calculated

I (MIN)=3.26×10^5 mm^4

Y= Y(total)/2=417.7 mm

S=I/Y=780 mm^3

Case 2

The section was included with Emboss which was not included in Case 1.

Based on the above values the section modulus is calculated

I (MIN)=3.94×10^5 mm^4

Y= Y(total)/2=417.7 mm

S=I/Y=943 mm^3

From the above analysis, it is understood that the case 2 model has a high section modulus compared to Case 1 which indicates that case 2 has high strength (load-bearing capacity).
