WHAT IS SECTION MODULUS?

The section modulus of the cross-sectional shape is of significant importance in designing any structure. It is a direct measure of the strength of the structure.

A Structure that has a larger section modulus than another will be stronger and capable of bearing greater loads.

RESULT: An improvement in section modulus of 6.5 mm^3 is achieved.

The 0.2mm clearance gap between Outer Panel and Inner Panel on engine compartment for hemming glue is reduced to 0.1mm for achieving section modulus increase.
