Section Modulus calculation and optimization
AIM
To Use the Section from Hood design and calculate the Section Modulus using the formula
S = I/y
Where,
S = Section Modulus
I = Moment of Inertia
y = distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object
PROCEDURE:
The data are collected from taking the master section using the mid plane

By Comparing both the cases
for front crash analysis ( case 1 and case 2 )
806443.98495mm < 913178.41495mm
for side crash analysis ( case 3 and case 4 )
262596.4346mm <299291.5699mm
CONCLUSION
Hence when comparing Case 1 with case 2 (806443.98495mm < 913178.41495mm)of front crash analysis and case 3 with case4 (262596.4346mm <299291.5699mm)of side crash analysis
1) The section modulus value of case 2 and case 4 is higher than the case 1 and case 3.
2) As we increase the section area , the moment of Inertia & section modulus increases which means the strength and load capacity of material also increases.
