Roof Design

In this report, we present the design and analysis of a roof assembly for a vehicle. The goal is to develop essential flanges for the outer roof, create reinforcements, and perform various analyses including draft analysis, curvature study, and predictions for bow-roof and snow load.

  • Assembly Process

The assembly process was initiated by creating the outer roof flanges followed by developing reinforcements as separate parts. The dimensions were carefully chosen to meet the design requirements.

  • Draft Analysis

A draft analysis was performed to ensure manufacturability and smooth assembly. The tool opening angle of 7 degrees was considered during the creation of the roof ditch area.

  • Curvature Study

The curvature study was conducted to determine the position of the bow-roofs. The Bow–Roof Prediction Formula provided was used for calculations. The parameters such as roof length, curvature, thickness, and span were considered to predict the bow-roof position accurately.

  • Bow-Roof Prediction

Using the Bow–Roof Prediction Formula, the position of bow-roofs was calculated. The formula incorporates factors like roof length, curvature, thickness, and span to predict the bow-roof position. The judgment condition was verified to ensure compliance.

  • Snow Load Prediction

Snow load prediction was performed using the provided formula. Factors such as geometrical moment of inertia, curvature radius, thickness, and distances were considered in the calculation. The judgment condition was checked to ensure the safety against snow load.

  • Remedies Implementation

In case the criteria were not fulfilled, remedies were suggested and implemented in the design. This ensures that the design meets the required standards and safety measures.

The design and analysis of the roof assembly were successfully completed.
