INTRODUCTION

Automobile roof or car top is a portion of an automobile that’s sits above the passenger compartment, protecting the vehicle cabin from sun, wind, rain & other external element because the earliest automobile was designed in an era horse drawn carriage

DEFINITION OF AUTOMOBILE ROOF

Automobile roof is fixed panel /movable panel than is operateable or non operateable cover to the passenger cabin it gives protection from light, strong breeze & rain to enter the passenger compartment.

The roof in earlier era was generally of leather and slowly it was converted to aluminium roof

later,

TYPES OF ROOF

  • Lather Roof
  • Closed Roof
  • Sunglass Roof or Window Tinted Roof
  • Retractable roof

BENEFITS

Automobile roof is most important as if protect from strong wind.

it also protects from obstacles falling directly on passenger cabin.

DESIGN CONSIDERATION

  • Bow roof 1,2,3: -

As the bow roof supports roof structure internally as though the roof is given structural emboss and it supports for mastic and it will be sheet thickness of 0.7~0.8.

Mastic & mastic points: -

As the mastic are the rubber propertied material as it subjected to heat it flow along the required position and mastic point are one which are the position at mastic are placed.

  • Central reinforcement

These are the structures where it provides support to centre of roof generally.

RAIL ROOF RF &RR

Its also side supporting rail’s these are the rail roof were holds roof strongly.

Calculation

Heat distortion & snow condition

These are the calculation is calculated to ensure the heat distortion & snow distortion before it done with analysis. If has to satisfy the condition if yes it can send it to analysis or NG means the surface has to correct and send to analysis team.
