REVIT_Usage of Collabrate tool_Week 6
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
AIM: To set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project for an architectural template.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Manage tab 2) grids 3) architectural template
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the architectural template in the revit file.
2) select the grids option and draw the grids
3) open the manage tab and select the coordinates option and specify coordinates at point
4) rename the grids and save the file.
RESULT: Project base points and project shared co ordinates are set

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
AIM: To set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project for a structural template.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Manage tab 2) grids 3) Structural template
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the Structural template in the revit file.
2) select the grids option and draw the grids
3) open the manage tab and select the coordinates option and specify coordinates at point
4) rename the grids and save the file.
RESULT: Project base point and project shared coordinates are set for structural template.

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model ( enabling simultaneous working on the model )
AIM: To make the architectural model a central model.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Collaborate tab
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the architectural file again in revit
2) click on the collaborate tab and select the collaborate option.
3) select the option on how to collaborate like within your network or in BIM 360 document managment.
4) select the option within the network and click ok.
RESULT: Architectural model is made as a central model.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
AIM: To create grids longitudinally and transverse pattern for the project.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) architectural template 2) grids
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the architectural template in revit
2) select the grids from the architectural tab.
3) draw the grid lines with an offset of 30'
4) similarly draw the longitudinal and transverse grid lines
5) save the file.
RESULT: Longitudinal and transverse grid lines are successfully created.

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
AIM: To synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Manage tab 2) synchronize tab
PROCEDURE:
1) open the architectural template in the revit file
2) select the synchronize tab from the manage tab and click ok.
3) the drawing will be sychronized to the central file.
RESULT: The changes has been synchronised from local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

6) Open the structural model and using the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
AIM: To save the structural model as a central file.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Collaborate
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the structural template in the revit.
2) click on the collaborate tab and select the collaborate option.
3) select the option on how to collaborate like within your network or in BIM 360 document managment.
4) select the option within the network and click ok.
RESULT: structural model is saved as central file.

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
AIM: To select grids and levels from architectural model and copy it to the structural model using copy monitor.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Copy monitor 2) copy
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the architectural tab in the revit
2) select the collaborate tab and select copy monitor option
3) select the grids and levels to be copied in the file and select finish.
4) open the structural template and grids and columns will be found in the structural template
RESULT: grids and levels are selected from the architectural model and copied to the structural template

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
AIM: To create another new file with a constuction template and save the file as central model and this should include both architectural and structural model.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) collaborate 2) manage
PROCEDURE:
1) Open a new revit file under the construction template.
2) Select the collaborate tab and collaborate it to the central file
3) click on the manage tab and select the manage links to add both structural and architectural template
4) both files will be opened in this file
RESULT: Another new file is created and both structural and architecttural files are linked iin this file.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
AIM: To work on the shared parameters and linking options under manage links.
TOOLS REQUIRED: 1) Manage links 2) relocate position
PROCEDURE:
1) Open the architectural template in the revit and select the manage tab
2) select the manage links option in the manage tab and select the structural file
3) select the position icon in the manage tab and click on the relocate position.
4) select the intersection point of the grids
5) the grids will be positioned accordingly
RESULT: The grids are positioned accordingly.

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
