REVIT_Usage of Collabrate tool_Week 6

Question-1 Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project

Aim: Create architectural template and set project shared coordinates for the project.

Tools: Architectural template, grids, manage tool bar and specify the coordinates

Procedure:
1)Click on new, select architectural template and Click ok.
2)Click on architectural tool bar, select grids.
3)Draw and rename the grids.
4)Click on manage tool bar and select specify coordinates.
5)Click on grids, specify the coordinates as 0'0".

Result: Project shared coordinate are succesfully completed.

Question-2 Open another new file but with a structural template. Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

Aim: Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template.

Tools: Structural template, structural toolbar, grids, manage tool bar and specify coordinates.

Procedure:
1)Click on new, select structural template and Click ok.
2)Open structural tool bar and select grids.
3)Draw and Rename the grids.
4)Click on manage tool bar and select specify co-ordinates.
5)Select grids, specify the coordinates as 0'0".
6)Save the file.

Result: Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template succesfully completed.

Question-3 Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model ( enabling simultaneous working on the model )

Aim: Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model.

Tools: Architectural file, collabrate tool bar and collabrate

Procedure:
1)Open architectural project file.
2)Click on collabrate tool bar and select collabrate.
3)Select "Within the network".
4)Click ok.

Result: Assigning architectural project to the central model completed.

Question-4 Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2

Aim: Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project.

Tools: File, architectural tool bar and grids.

Procedure:
1)Open architectural project file.

2)Click on architectural toolbar and select grids.3

3)Draw the grids longitudnally and transverselly with equal distance.

Result: Creating the grids to plan completed.

Question-5 Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

Aim: Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file

Tools: File, collabrate tool bar and synchronize.

Procedure:
1)Open architectural project file.
2)Click on collabrate toolbar and Click on synchronize with central.
3)Select synchronize and modify settings.
4)Click ok.

Result: Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file completed successfully.

Question-6 Open the structural model and using the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

Aim: Using the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file in the structural model.

Tools: File and Collabrate.

Procedure:
1)Open structural project file.
2)Click on collabrate toolbar and select collabrate.
3)Select within the network.
4)Click ok.

Result: Collaborate tools to save the model as a central file completed.

Question-7 Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

Aim: Select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model.

Tools: File, import/link RVT and collabrate.

Procedure:
1)Open structural project file and Click on Import/link RVT under insert toolbar.
2)Select the architectural project link and Click ok.
3)Click on collabrate toolbar and Select copy monitor.
4)Click on select link and copy the grids.

Result: Copying the grids from architectural to structural copleted.

Question-8 Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

Aim: Create another new file with a construction template. This file will include both architectural and structural model.

Tools: File, Collabrate, Synchronize and manage links.

Procedure:
1)Open file, Click on new project and select architectural template.
2)Save the project with appropriate name .
3)Click on collabrate toolbar and select collabrate.
4)Select within your network option.
5)Click on synchronize under collabrate toolbar.
6)Again save the file.
7)Click on manage links, add structural and architectural links to combined file.

Result: Creating and adding links to combined file completed.

Question-9 Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

Ans: Yes, Grids from structural and architectural model matching in the combined project created.

Question-10 List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously

Ans:

Construction:
Create floor plans and prepare a material list.
Obtain necessary building approval.
Clear the building site and lay the foundation.
Build the main load-bearing structure and add floor and ceiling joists.
Cover outer walls and install essential internal windows, plumbing and other utilities.
Finish the rest installation of necessary equipment.
