REVIT_Usage of Collabrate tool_Week 6

1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project.

Answer:

AIM:To open an architectural template and to set project base point and project shared coordinates using manage tab.

COMMANDS REQUIRED:ArchitecturaL Template,Manage tool,Coordinates,specify coordinates,grids.

PROCEDURE:

a)open an architecture template.

b)select grids from architecture tool and draw one grid horizontally and name it as A.

c)similarly draw a vertical grid and name it as 1.

d)now to specify coordinates, select manage tool and click on coordinates.

e)select specify coordinates and then select the grid,we will be able to see the coordinates of northsouth when we select horizontal grid and eastwest when we select the vertical grid.

f)now set the coordinates to zero and click enter.

g)to save the project, click on file and select save as project and name the project and click ok.

RESULT:we have set the project base point and project shared coordinates in architectural template successfully.

2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model

Answer:

AIM:TO open a structural template and set the project parameters.

COMMANDS REQUIRED:Structural template,Manage tool,Coordinates,specify coordinates,grids.

PROCEDURE:

a)open a structural template.

b)select grids from structure tool and draw one grid horizontally and name it as A.

c)similarly draw a vertical grid and name it as 1.

d)now to specify coordinates, select manage tool and click on coordinates.

e)select specify coordinates and then select the grid,we will be able to see the coordinates of northsouth when we select horizontal grid and eastwest when we select the vertical grid.

f)now set the coordinates to zero and click enter.

g)to save the project, click on file and select save as project and name the project and click ok.

RESULT:project parameters has been set successfully for structural template.

3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model ( enabling simultaneous working on the model )

Answer:

AIM:to make the Architectural model a central model using collaborate tool.

COMMANDS REQUIRED:File,open,collaborate tab,collaborate tool.

PROCEDURE:

a)reopen the architectural template.

b)now to make it central model, click collaborate tab.

c)select collaborate icon and click on it.

d)now select within the network and click ok.

e)now the file is saved as central model.

RESULT:we have made the model as central model using collaborate tool.

4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week2

Answer:

AIM:To create longitudinal and transversal Grids .

COMMANDS REQUIRED:Grids,Architecture tool.

PROCEDURE:

a)open an architectural template.

b)to create grids, select grids which is rightside of architecture tool.

c)now draw grids horizontally and vertically with a distance of 20ft each.

d)name the horizontal grids as A,B,C,D and vertical grids as 1,2,3,4,5.

RESULT:longitudinal and transverse grids are created succesfully.

5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.

Answer:

AIM:to Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model

COMMANDS REQUIRED:Synchronise,collaborate.

PROCEDURE:

a)open the local copy that we made changes.

b)to synchronise with central fle, firstly click on the collaborate tab.

c)we can see synchronise with central icon.click on it.

d)click on synchronise and modify settings and the click ok.

e)now file is synchronised with central file.

RESULT:Synchronising the changes from local copy to central file of architectural model is done successfully.

6) Open the structural model and using the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.

Answer:

AIM:To make the previous structural file as central file.

COMMANDS REQUIRED:File,open,collaborate tab,collaborate icon.

PROCEDURE:

a)reopen the structural file that we created in the previous question.

b)now to make it central model, click on collaborate tab.

c)select collaborate icon and click on it.

d)now select within the network and click ok.

e)now the file is saved as central model.

RESULT:we have made the structural file as central file using collaborate tool.

7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model

Answer:

AIM:to copy the grids to the structural model using copy monitor.

COMMANDS REQUIRED:grids,copy monitor.

PROCEDURE:

a)open the architectural grids model that we have created earlier.

b)now click collaborate tool and select copy monitor and then select select link.

c)now select all the links using ctrl and copy to clipboard.

d)now open the structural model that we have created .

e)select paste in the modify tool and you will get the link pasted and click on finish.

RESULT:copying of grids to structural model using copy monitor is successfully done.

8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.

Answer:

AIM:To create a construction template and save it as central file and to link structural and architectural file using manage links.

COMMANDS USED:Collaborate,manage links.

PROCEDURE:

a)open a new project file of construction template.

b)to make it central file, click on collaborate and set within the network and click ok.

c)now go to manage tool and click on manage links.

d)we can see add ,click on that and add both architectural and structural model and click ok.

e)now we can see the both the models linked.

f)to save the file, click save as in file and click ok.

RESULT:a construction file is created, saved as central file and structural and architectural models are linked using manage links succesfully.

9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner

Answer:

AIM:To work on the shared parameters and linking options under manage links to link project in an appropriate manner.

COMMANDS USED:manage links,position.

PROCEDURE:

a)open a new project file of construction template.

b)to make it central file, click on collaborate and set within the network and click ok.

c)now go to manage tool and click on manage links.

d)we can see add ,click on that and add both architectural and structural model and click ok.

e)now we can see the both the models linked.

f)to link the models with parameters, select manage links.

g)select Position and click on relocate the project.

h)now select the meeting point of longitudinal and transversal of architectural to longitudinal and transversal meeting point of structural.hence the models are linked with parameters.

RESULT:architecture and structural models are linked and shared parameters are linked in an appropriate manner.

10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously.

Answer:

for construction,it is both the combination of architecture and structural.

basically,we will create a central file which act as a data collection point of local copies.multiple people can work on same file by creating local copies.we can work in this local copies and synchronise with the central file.
