REVIT_Dynamo Project- 3

1) Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

AIM : To create a sinusoidal curve and create a surface out of the curve using dynamo.

TOOLS USED : Architectural template, Manage tab, Dynamo, Code block, List, Integer slider, Range, Math sin, Point by coordinates, +, * , NurbsCurve, edit tool, create node from selection, copy , paste, list, Loft.

PROCEDURE :

1. Open an architectural template in revit and go to manage tab and clcik on Dyanmo .

2. In the Dynamo interface that appears click on new to create a new blank space.

3. Create a code block by typing in the search tab in the left side, change the name as required by double clicking on it. Simlarly we can create the required alogorithm required for obtaining the points in path of sine curve.( The algorithm is shown in the picture attached)

4. Now, create the curve joining all the points created in sine path using Nurbscurve and now select the alogorithm leaving the input blocks and click on Create node from selection in the edit tool.

5. Create 3 similar nodes by copying the actual one and pasting using edit tool and use a list block and create list of these 3 curves and link this to Loft by crossection, these 3 curves being the crossections.

RESULT : The surface with sinusoidal curve is created successfully.

2) Create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.

AIM : To create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo and also create a wall with required wall type and parameters.

TOOLS USED : Architectural template, manage tab, dynamo, integer slider, point by coordinates,Line By Startpoint and Endpoint, list, integer slider for height of wall, wall type, level.

PROCEDURE :

1. Open a architectural template and click on dynamo in manage tab.

2. Open a new blank space in dynamo.

3. Now, create algorithm for creating 4 points in dynamo using integer slider, point by coordinates.

4. Now connect these points using Line By Startpoint and Endpoint.

5. Create algorithm for creating a wall along all these lines using list, integer slider for height of wall, wall type, level.

RESULT : The wall is created and refelected in the revit file as well.

3) Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block

AIM : To create array of model elements in revit and use dynamo to vary properties of model elements by using slider or code block.

TOOLS USED: Architectural template, architectural columns, manage tab, dynamo, select model tool, integer slider, family instance set rotation.

PROCEDURE :

1. Firstly create a architectural template and draw 4 architectural columns.

2. Now click on dynamo in manage tab and create a new blank space and create a select model tool.

3. Now adjust both revit file and dynamo file side by side and click select in select model elements in dynamo and select the columns in architectural file, create a family instance set rotation and integer slider for rotation angle.

4. Now, set degree of rotation in integer slider to rotate the columns in architectural file.

RESULT : The array of columns is created and its parameter i.e., rotation is changed in dynamo successfully.

4) Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column

AIM : To create conceptual mass and develop a parametric column by dividing surfaces and create a square shaped paneled parametric column.

TOOLS USED : New conceptual mass family file, create tab, level,3D view, Point, Set, square, create form.

PROCEDURE :

1. Open a new conceptual mass family file.

2. Create a new level at a required height using level tool in create tab and draw a line of length which is used as level height.

3. Now go to 3D view and create reference points at certain distances .

4.Now click on set option and choose a point and draw a desired crossectional shape for column( square) and repeat the same at all points.

5. Select all the points lines and the polygons drawn and click on create form tool.

RESULT : The required column with a desired crossection is created.

5) Use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modelling, You can use the concepts discussed in parametric high rise tower in class for reference.

AIM : To use dynamo and develop a parametric stadium.

TOOLS USED : Architectural template, dynamo , geometry rotate, point origin, vector z axis, integer sliders, code blocks, coordinate system by origin and rectangle, surface by loft.

PROCEDURE :

1. Open a architectural template and click on dynamo in manage tab and create a new blank space.

2. Create the required algorithm for creating floor using integer sliders, code blocks, coordinate system by origin and rectangle.

3. Now, rotate these floors using geometry rotate and we can rotate them as required as we included integer slider.

4. Now create the surface connecting all floors using Surface by loft.

5. we can change the input values( number of levels, floor to floor height, bottom level rotation, top level rotation) to change the respective features of building as required.

7. Now to change this high rise tower to stadium, change the number of levels to 2 and floor height as required and rotate to a required degree to almost form an ellipse( as pitch will be elliptical in shape).

RESULT : The required parametric stadium is obtained.
