Radial Engine Assembly : Week 4 Challenge

Piston: -

• One side of the drawing given in section view A-A was drawn first and then revolved around the vertical axis to get the main piston body shape.
• Then created a plane at a distance of 25mm and made two circles on this plane and extruded it by 21.5 mm.
• Then created a pocket in this new cylinder as shown in the sketches
• The common edge between the main body and this new hollow cylinder was extracted using extract command in generative shape design workbench
• then extruded this edge up to some length and then thickened it using the thick surface command in part design workbench in a new body.
• Then removed this body from the main body using the boolean remove command.
• Did the same thing on the opposite side.

--->  Bush upper, Bush lower, Master rod bearing, piston ring, piston pin plug, and link pin were made by drawing the sketch and padding it.

Note: - Piston pin was not given in the drive link. so I assumed some values and made it.

Master Rod: -

• The large hollow hole was made first and then at a 28 mm distance, the sketch was created and then extruded.
• Then this whole part was mirrored with respect to its base plane
• Sketch as shown in Section view B-B was drawn and padded.
• Then created the hollow cylinder present on the other side
• Then rectangular slot was created
• Finally attained the draft angle for the connecting rod by making a triangular sketch and then pocketing it.

Articulate rod:- 

• Padded the rectangle and then gave the rectangular slot on both sides
• then hollow cylinders were created on both the ends and gave the required fillet size and given locations.

Assembly: -

• First made the sub-assembly with Piston, Piston ring, Upper Bush, Piston Pin, Rod bush lower, Articulate rod, Piston pin plug to ease the final assembly.

• Next made the subassembly of piston with piston rings to reduce the cumbersome in the final assembly

• Finally assembled the radial engine with the help of these sub-assemblies
