Yacht modelling

Objective:

To model a Yacht using solidworks and perform attractive rendering operation using solidworks visualize and photoview 360.

Introduction:

A yacht is a larger boat or ship. The word “Yacht” comes from Dutch origin and was originally defined as that a light, and fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to find and capture pirates. The size of vessel is one of the most important elements to decide upon. The 40 foot mark is a common boundary line for boaters searching for a new vessel. While the terms boat and yacht are often used interchangeably, most agree that the term yacht is indeed applicable to any boat over 40 feet in length. As you get over 100 feet in length, the common term tends to shift towards “mega yacht.”

Design methodology:

  1. setting up the blue print
  • initialy a blue prints of yacht was imported to solidworks parts file: TOOLS-SKETCH TOOLS-SKETCH PICTURE

2. Modelling the propeller

  • A propeller is a device with a rotating hub and radiating blades that is used to make linear thrust force upon fluids.
  • A propeller is modelled by using solid modelling features such as - Revovled boss/base, Boss extruded, extruded cut, loft boss/base, circular pattern, and fillets etc..

3.Modelling the RADAR:

  • RADAR (Radio detection and ranging) is a detection system uses radio waves to find the objects.
  • used features: Boss/base extruded, cut extruded, mirror and fillets
  • initialy a half portion of RADAR was created then use mirror feature to complete the profile.
  • write a text on RADAR surface by using -- tools- sketch entities-text.

4.Modelling the yacht hull and garage door:

  • used features: extruded surface, loft surface, boundary surface, trim surface, surface knite, projected curve and mirror etc.
  • Garage Door:

used features: extruded boss/base, cut extruded, mirror, fillets, and text opt. etc.

5.modelling the seats:

  • our model have three seating arrangement there are front seat, middle seat and rear seat. Those seats were desinged by surface features and solid features.
  • Solid features: extruded boss/base, cut extruded, mirror, fillets and chamfer
  • surface features: surface extruded, surface loft, surface boundary, trim surface, surface extend and surface knite

Rear seat

6.modelling the superstructure:

surface features: surface loft, surface extruded, surface extend, surface boundary, surface trim, projective curve, surface knit, offset surface, surface thinner and fillets

solid features: extruded boss/base, cut extruded, mirror, split line, fillets and chamfer

7.modelling the Radar mast:

solid features: extruded boss/base, cut extruded, revolve boss/base, mirror, shell, fillets and chamfer

Assembly of yacht:

  • All other parts of yacht were assemble together in solidworks assembly files
  • initialy, a hull is located properly in solidworks assembly
  • then other parts are assembled with hull using mates as coincident, tangent, concentric, parallel ect.

Rendering:

  • initialy add a photoview opt. in solid works and the add a decals on surface of yacht
  • then add a lights and camara

  • solidworks visualize used to add a proper background
