Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1. Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.

Answer:-

  1. Generator
  2. Distributor
  3. Ammeter
  4. Fuse
  5. Breaker
  6. Starter
  7. Ground
  8. Horn
  9. Junction block
  10. Ignition coil
  11. Scaled beam

2. Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly.

Answer:-

1. Generator:-generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy for use in electrical energy to run electric devices such as home appliances like tv fans light And also used in industries to run machines when there is an electric power cutoff

2. Ammeter:- Ammeter is a measuring instrument used to measure Direct current or Alternating current, in Amperes. in the circuit, An ammeter is used to measure a wide range of current values because, at a high value, only a small portion of the current is directed through the meter mechanism.

3. Battery:- An electric battery is a source of electric power consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections for powering electrical devices. Electric batteries take input as an Alternating current supply and store it in the form of Direct current

3. If the total load is 10A from battery, what should be the fuse rating?

Answer:-

If the normal steady-state current is calculated to be 10 amps, then a 15 amp fuse rating should be selected [10amps * 135 = 13.5 amps, the next larger standard size is 15A]

4. If 500W is the load, what is the voltage and capacity of battery you recommend?

Answer:-

Given that,

Load = 500 Watt

voltage = 12 V

We know that,

Battery capacity = load * Voltage

= 500 * 12

= 6000 Watt-hours

5. Identify any two elements which are connected parallel to each other. Why they are connected in parallel?

Answer:-

The tail stop and Dome light are connected in parallel the positive side is connected to the positive side and the negative side is connected to all the negative sides it increases the run time while maintaining the voltage where voltage remains the same.

6. Identify any two elements which are connected in series. Why they are connected in series?

Answer:-

Fuse and Ammeter are connected in series, Fuse is an electrical protection device built around a conductive strip that is designed to melt in case of excessive current flow. fuse is always connected in series to protect the circuit from excessive current. when the fuse blows it will open the entire circuit and interrupt or stop the flow of current through the circuit.

An Ammeter is a device that measures the amount of current flowing in a circuit. it is a very low-resistance device. if it is connected in parallel it would draw most of the current and get damaged hence it is connected in series.
