Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
1. Major elements of the circuit are -
Alternator
Battery
Spark Plug
Gas Tank Unit
Ignition Coil
Fuse
Breaker
2. ALTERNATOR- It is the device which is used to generate electric current for powering the electronics system in the car such as head lamps,power steering,automatic power windows,cameras etc.It is also
used to charge the battery while the car is running.Basically it is an induction motor which produces AC and after it is converted into DC to power the components.
GAS TANK UNIT- It contains the fuel ex- petrol,diesel,cng etc which is used to complete the process of ignition inside the piston. The fuel from the gas tank unit comes inside the cylinder and it is
then compressed with air and spark ignites and power is generated hences the cam follower mechanism work ,which in order rotates the shaft and motion occur in IC engine.
BATTERY- It is the device which convert chemical energy into electrical energy,In the above diagram of Ic engine,The role of battery is to power the ignition system.
3. Fuse rating should be 25% greater then the load.So, in the given case the load is 10 A .Hence, the required fuse rating would be 13 A .
4. Load=500 W
Voltage=12V
Battery capacity is given in Amp/hrs
Power=Voltage*Current
500=12*I
I=500/12
I=42 A
Battery capacity needed is 42 Amp/hr.
5.Two elements connected in parallel are horns and lights because of the load require uniform voltages .
6.Two elements connected in series are ignition coil and ignition switch ,Horn switch and Horns series connection is required for high current.
