Challenge

Project

Aim - To carry system level simulation of BAJA all terrain vehicle and create a technical report.

Model explaination -

1. Engine -

It converts heat generated by the fuel to the force that slides/rotates the wheels on the road. First stage is spark where it burns the petrol vapours and compress air inside the sealed cylinder which increases the rate of burning. Once it start expanding it starts to provide the force required to move the vehicle.

2. CVT(continuously variable transmission) -

Instead of having a fixed gear ration CVT provides with endless range of effective gear ratios. CVT work on the pully system. This system consists of cones at each pully connected via chain belt. Cones can move to either increase or decrease the belt diameter and hence the gear ratio and ultimately the required performance output.

3. Vehicle body-

It the main supporting structure of the vehicle. This whole assembly is mounted over wheels, engine, transmission, controller etc.

Simulink Model - CVT Model with Dashboard.

Subsystems included in the models are given below -

Engine Sensor -

Continuously Variable transmission -

Vehicle Body -

Lets try and analyse the model based on throttle and break input.

Since dashboard is used runtime is made infinite and while simulation we can change the throttle and brake. The dashboard is added above for thr reference. We can check the effect of throttle and break on to the velocity.

We can check for the effect of the changes made on the dashboard i.e. variation of throttle and break will change the rpm of primary and secondary CVT pully as seen above.

For better clarity I've attached the document to compare the change in the throttle and break on the speed and also the effect of the change in gear ratio on both speed as well as RPM of CVT.
