Project 5

*PROJECT 5:

For a 10-cell series, calculate the voltage, current, and SOC. Also, simulate the aging and thermal effects at different charge and discharge rates. Comment on the battery pack’s capacity.

*SOLUTION:-

objective:

For a 10-cell series, calculate the voltage, current, and SOC. Also, simulate the aging and thermal effects at different charge and discharge rates. Comment on the battery pack’s capacity.

Theory:-

nowadays lithium-ion batteries are mostly used in electric vehicles we must know their charge and discharge rates to operate this battery in an efficient manner and without damage when this battery is in operation this temperature of it must be kept at the limit so we simulate the thermal effect of  this cell, by knowing the how much temp rise take place we can provide efficient cooling to the battery so that the life cycle of the battery increases  we will see a model on this issue below and explanation as follows

>For a 10-cell series, calculate the voltage, current, and SOC.

For a 10 cell connected in the series shown in the above model and calculate the Voltage, current, and state of charge (SOC) shown in the display block

>Output:

SIMULINK MODEL:

simulate the aging and thermal effects at different charge and discharge rates.

here nominal battery is 7.2 V and the current capacity is 5.4 Ah adding the aging effect and temperature effect and running the Simulink model.

>Output:-

1. Initial state of charge (SOC) changes is 30%

>Output:

The output of the State of charge is different from the first  when changing the initial state of charge is 30% and the output of the display block is shown below 23.01

2. Initial state of charge (SOC) changes is 60%

>Output:

here we have seen the difference between the outputs of the display block change the value when ching the state of the charge

Comments:

As you can see with the rise in temperature the SoC decreases which means that if we operate the battery at a high temperature than the rated temperature then the battery will discharge fast and

the life of the battery will decrease accordingly.
