Project 2 Thermal modeling of battery pack
Aim: To connect 10 cells in series and estimate the thermal effects and life cycle performance at various temperatures, charge & discharge rates.
Blocks Used:
- Constant
- Integrator
- Battery(Table-based)
- Current sensor
- Controlled current source
- Temperature Sensor
- Temperature Source
- Convective heat Transfer
- Signal Builder
- From/Goto
- Powergui
- Gain
- Solver Configuration
- Ps-simulink Converter
Now we will deep-dive into the model

As per the requirement we have connected 10 cells in series and took charge as output to calculate the SOC by "Coulumb Counting" methos[just by integrating with respect to time].
Inside Cell in Series:

- Battery(Table based) are used and connected in series consists of 10 cells.
- In order to get the thermal port, just right-click on battery simscape --> block choices --> uninstrumented |Thermal port.
- Now connect the entire cell positive to Controlled current source and the source other end is connected to current sensor,
- This source is controlled by signal builder where input is taken from pre-defined excel sheet.
Inside Temp_Measurement:

- Here we have to measure the temperature with respect to the outside temperature.
- This is achieved by using convective heat transfer, this is fed by temperature source.
- Temperature sensor is fed with ambient and battery temp which is further observed by connecting a Goto block.
Inside Coulumb Counting:

- As per the coulumb's method the charge accumulated is just integrated w.r.t the time which is further subtracted from whole value(i.e., SOC =100).
Outputs:

Here we can observe the line where the SOC is gradually decreased while the temperature is proportionally increasing[from 298.15 to 298.45 C] inside the battery pack.
Note: No change in block parameter values, and ran simulation for 1369 sec.
