Project 2

Hi,

Here I'm submitting the final project of mine on CPU FAN BEZEL model.

Procedure followed for core & cavity surface creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model :

  • First, I made the Draft analysis for the given component & verified the positive & negative drafts on the yellow region.
  • Then, I scaled the component to 1.006(0.6%) as assumed the product as ABS.
  • Then I created parting lines using 'parting lines' tool.
  • And I created the shut-off surface, for the open cut-outs present in the product.
  • And I created lofted surface, for the open cut-outs present in the product.
  • Then, by using 'ruled surface' swept all surfaces along the path of the line drawn.
  • And I copied the surfaces using 'move/copy bodies' tool.
  • And I did 'knit surface' with one of the parting surface and cavity surface & another parting surface and core surface respectively.

Procedure followed for core & cavity block creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model :

  • For the mold block creation, I inserted the surface model into a new assembly.
  • Then I have aligned the sprue location to the assembly origin & fixed it.
  • Then I have created a sketch of a square in a new part as core steel for creating the 2d profile & 3d profile as well.
  • Then I created a copy of the parting surface using 'offset surface' tool.
  • And I extruded the sketch of the core steel part upto 200mm on both sides.
  • Using 'move face' tool, have aligned the height of the core steel part.
  • Then I have used 'cut with surface' tool to create 3d profile on the core block.
  • Using 'combine' tool, I have combined both 2d & 3d blocks.
  • For the cavity steel part, I used 'convert entities' as the same sketch created in core steel part.
  • Then I created a copy of the parting surface using 'offset surface' tool.
  • And I extruded the sketch of the core steel part upto 200mm on both sides.
  • And using split tool, I have splitted the 2d & 3d blocks.
  • Using 'move face' tool, have aligned the height of the cavity steel part.
  • Then I have used 'cut with surface' tool to create 3d profile on the cavity block.
  • Using 'combine' tool, I have combined both 2d & 3d blocks.
  • Then, for avoiding rubbing between core & cavity blocks, moved 2mm where rubbing.
  • Finally, I have assigned the respective colours to the core & cavity blocks individually.

Procedure followed for insert 1 creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model:

  • First, I have drawn the 126.5 diameter on the top plane of the core steel part & splitted it using 60mm offsetted plane from the bottom face.
  • For mounting the inserts, I use M6 C/B from bottom on each insert using ‘hole wizard’ tool.
  • And for the same pitch I have put tap holes on the each insert as well.
  • Then I have assigned yellow colour to the insert.

Procedure followed for insert 2 creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model:

  • First, I have drawn the 146 diameters on the top plane of the core steel part & splitted it using 60mm offsetted plane from the bottom face.
  • Then, I have grouped the inserts using combine tool.
  • For mounting the inserts, I use M4 C/B from bottom on each insert using ‘hole wizard’ tool.
  • And for the same pitch I have put tap holes on the each insert as well.
  • Then I have assigned sky-blue colour to the insert.

Procedure followed for slider creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model:

  • After creating inserts, I have planned to create sliders for side undercuts.
  • Initially, I have created a mid-plane to the part.
  • Then created a sketch for slider & splitted it using ‘split’ tool from the top.
  • Then created a extension wall for the slider travel.
  • And created wedges, fillets to the sliders.
  • Then saved the sliders into a new Parasolid file & insert it into the assembly as slider 01.
  • And accordingly inserted the slider block into core & cavity blocks, using ‘combine’ tool subtracted the projections.
  • Then using ‘move face’ have arrested the openings on the core block.
  • Then created the locking mechanism, bolts & screws to the sliders.
  • After creating a slider I have patterned for further 3 sliders & doing the same operations as well.
  • Finally assigned yellow colours to the slider blocks.

Procedure followed for ejector pins, plates creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model :

  • First, I have started with ejector pin sketch of diameter 6 on the top face of the core steel.
  • And extruded it upto the part surface & 250 offset from the same surface.
  • Then created ejector pin reliefs on the core block of 6.95 diameter for all the holes & extruded cut it to 84mm.
  • Then I created ejector plate on the top of the ejector pin of 10mm thickness & offsetted 45 each side on the core block.
  • Then created ejector end plate on the top face of the ejector plate of 15mm thickness and of the same dimension.
  • And I created an ejector pin lock of 10 diameter and a flat face for orientation on all the pins.
  • And the same sketch offsetted on the ejector plate of 12mm and the same flat face sketch & used ‘extruded cut’ on it.
  • Finally, I have given respective colours to the ejector pins, plates.

Procedure followed for runner & gate system creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model :

  • First, I have created the runner path on the cavity block of 120 diameter on the origin of the block & used ‘extruded cut’ of 12mm.
  • Then for the runner path, I have created diameter 5.8 on the cutted surface and the draft angle of 3.5 degrees outwards through all.
  • And converted the drafted end diameter to the top face of the core block & used ‘extruded cut’ of 5mm on it.
  • Then for the gate location, I have created a line on the core block nearby the previous cut & extruded it to 4mm x 4.5mm till the opening of the part creation.
  • And I have drafted the side faces of the block to 10 degrees inwards.
  • Then I have filletted the bottom edges of the block.
  • Then I have created another triangular sketch to the front of the block & extruded it to 0.5mm.
  • Then filletted its front edges & combined both the blocks using ‘combine’ tool.
  • Finally, subtracted the block with the core block using ‘combine’ tool.

Procedure followed for air vents creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model :

  • First, I have offsetted the outer circular edge of the model on the core block.
  • Then extruded it 1mm to some extend on both sides.
  • And splitted it using ‘split’ tool & consumed the cut body.
  • Then moved the bottom face of it to 1mm using ‘move face’ tool.
  • And filletted the bottom edges.
  • Then created an inner block to it of a diagonal shape upto its same surface.
  • And moved its face to 0.02mm on the bottom using ‘move face’ tool.
  • And combined both the blocks using ‘combine’ tool.
  • Then created a path for the air vent as a sketch on the perpendicular side of the above features, and extruded it upto the same surface.
  • And filletted its bottom edges.
  • Then combined these two blocks using ‘combine’ tool.
  • Then I have mirrored the all the block on the opposite side.
  • Then, finally combined both the blocks with the core block using the same ‘combine’ tool.
  • Finally given respective colours to the air vent paths.

Procedure followed for cooling channels creation of CPU FAN BEZEL model :

  • I have created the cooling channels on the core block.
  • I have used hole wizard to create the path for the cooling channels.
  • I have used M10 Socket Head Cap Screw for the channel paths.
  • I have created the holes on all the faces by merging the holes for the paths.
  • I have assigned the paths little away from the part section, to avoid intersections.
  • Finally, given different colours to the paths.

And, here I have submitted my final project.
