Project 1 - English Dictionary App & Library Book Management System

1A. ENGLISH DICTIONARY APP:

AIM : The main objective of this project is to create an English Dictionary app that returns definitions of English words.

HOW IT WORKS :

  1. It loads the dictionary from a file called "words.txt" at the beginning of the program, or creates an empty dictionary if the file doesn't exist.
  2. It presents a menu to the user with options to add a new word, find the meaning of a word, update a word's meaning, or exit the program.
  3. Based on the user's choice, it calls the respective functions('add_word', 'find_meaning', 'update_word') to perform the desired operation.
  4. When the user chooses to exit (option 4), it saves the dictionary to the "words.txt" file and ends the program.

1B. LIBRARY BOOK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:

AIM: The main objective of this project is to implement a Library Book Management System with the front end GUI developed using Tkinter and the backend database implemented in SQLite.

HOW IT WORKS:

  1. Imported libraries: Tkinter , Sqlite3.
  2. Database Setup:
  3. *The code connects to a SQLite database named 'books.db'.                                                                              *It creates a table named 'books' if it doesn't exist already. This table has columns for book details: 'id', 'title',        'author', 'year', and 'isbn'.
  4. Functions: create_book(), read_books(), view_books(),  search_book(), update_book(), delete_book().
  5. GUI Setup:  *The Tkinter window is created with the title "Library Management Application."                                                  *Labels, entry fields, buttons, and a listbox are added to the GUI
  6. Main Loop: The root.mainloop() starts the Tkinter event.
  7. Closing the database: After the main loop exits, the database connection is closed using conn.close().
