Challenge

Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

Aim - For the given model of  check and solve all geometrical errors and Assign appropriate PIDs. Perform meshing with the target length and also create a wind tunnel and perform volumetric mesh.

Procedure -

  1.  import the given model

3)as  the model is symmetrical we can use  project cut to create a centre bisecting line and delete half the model

2 )  as the model is halved now go to topo deck and use the topo option on all the geometry

3)now we can run a geometry check to see no. of triple cons and singles cons and over lapping surfaces

4)we can clean up the cracks present using  new face option

4)After topo clean up we can run geo check to ensure no triple and single cons are left

5) now we can set up relevent pids  and delete previous or unused pid using compress option

surface meshing -

as now we have cleaned our geometry and created pid we can now mesh  acq to

Target lengths for the different parts of a model are as follows:

  1. Body - 4 mm
  2. Lights - 4 mm
  3. Windows - 6mm
  4. Tyres_Rims - 3 mm

we need to set target length in quality criteria and mesh parameters for each part

Creating Symmetry-

Go to transform tool and choose copy, a dialogue box will appear, choose an entity and drag your mouse doing right click to select whole geometry and do right click. In the new dialogue box which appears choose symmetry and three points plane. Choose any three  ref points to automatically fill required coordinates.

Once this is done, the truck geometry must be enclosed in  wind tunnel to perform external aerodynamic simulations. If the length of the car is 'L' meters then, the virtual wind tunnel dimensions are as follows:

a. Distance from the wind tunnel inlet to the front of the truck= 4L

b. Distance from the aft of the truck to the wind tunnel outlet= 6L

c. Distance from the sides of the truck to its respective wind tunnel sides= L

d. Distance from the floor to the top surface of the wind tunnel= 3L

first we need to measure distance  of truck

Length of truck is 5761 now we can find the dimensions of wind tunnel

now we can crate wind tunnel using relative  option

now after creating wind tunnel we can assign relevent PID nad mesh the wind tunnel target length as 10mm

Volumetric Mesh

In order to identify Volumes we sue command define  which will Autodetect 2 volumes. we can delete volume of car since it is not needed and than we can start volume meshing by using vol remeshing command.

Result- volumetric meshing model has been completed
