Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

Aim : For the given model, check and solve all geometrical errors and Assign appropriate PIDs. Perform meshing with the suitable Target length and element Quality criteria.

Objective: Target lengths for the different parts of a model can be decided by own. Finer mesh will give good results and will compromise with the longer processing time.

Target length we have taken

Body-5mm

Tires-5mm

Windows-5mm

Procedure:

We have given the model like this

So we need to perform cons resolution so that our geometry shapes will be clear.

Go to mesh desk->Perimeter length ->both perimeter and macros we will give 1 mm

Now we will use Topo to clear single cons

Then we will remove remaining single cons manually one by one

Will use Cons-> Fill hole

Now we have to delete symmetry part so we will do it with plane cut option

Using universal delete and box selection

Now we can delete half part

Now we will go for geometry check find errors then will resolve it

We have 3 intersection faces

Now we have cleared all the errors

After removing all the errors we will assign PIDs

We will delete remaining PIDs with compress option

Now we will do surface mesh one by one PIDs

Windows and Tires meshed with 5 mm target length

Body meshed with 5 mm target length

Now will use symmetry option

Now we will create tunnel

Measure the length

Now Crate points for tunnel we will use Point ->Relative option

Using Curve option we will create curve

Now create Face with new option and assign PID as Bottom Face

Now we create Top face with Offset option and assign PID as Top Face

Create side Faces and assign PIDs

Now front and back faces

Now will do surface mesh at bottom face with 500 target length

Now will do surface mesh at Top face with 1000 target length

Now with spacing option with Factor of 1.2 we have to join bottom face to top face for gradually increasing meshing.

We have successfully created the wind tunnel.

Learning Outcomes : Using Ansa for the given model, we have checked and solved all geometrical errors on half portion and Assign appropriate PIDs

Performed meshing with the given Target length and element Quality criteria. After meshing the half model, Did symmetry to the other side.

Conclusion: Using Ansa we have developed tunnel volume for a car for a CFD analysis
