Project 1 - 2D meshing on the instrumental Panel

Aim: to mesh the given model of console.

Objective:

• Create the mid-surface of all the components
• Check for geometrical errors
• Generate mesh for the mid-surface
• Maintain the given mesh element quality criteria

The mid-surface and the mesh is generated at a time by the option Faces > Mid-surface > Casting. With this option Ansa creates the mid-surface and meshes it, after which the mesh is released and the mid-surface is deleted. The final product is a FE model. Whatever geometry that could not be captured by Casting was rectified with the help of Align Manager.

The reason I chose Casting method is because of the complexity and size of the model.

The dog houses are captured as crosses. Other slight elevations are captured as flat surfaces.

Conclusion: This exercise gave me insight about the actual industry practice. After using Casting and Align Manager a lot of manual effort was required to improve the mesh.
