Project 1

mold design using solidworks for table fan base.

part modeling of table fan base.

1.tooling direction.

selecting the tooling direction for core cavity separation

2.draft analysis.

checking draft analysis by selectng minimum draft angle of .5 degre.

3.Scaling.

Scaling the component keeping in view shrinkage percentage.

4.parting line.

parting line is selected using paramaters of mold design.parting line is line where core cavity meets.

5.shutoff surfaces.

the holes along tooling direction are shut for mold.

6.parting surfaces.

The surface along parting line is parting surface parting surface aong mold surface is used for cutting bodies.

mold design in assembly area.

1. import part geometry in assembly area.

co-ordinates system alignment of geometry in assembly workbench .

2.sprue alignment.

aligning origin of assembly with sprue .

3.fixing

fixing the assembly.

4. cavity body.

cavity body is formed by cutting the block with cavity surface.

a.split of bodies for sliders

the cavity body is split using split command for producing sliders

b.part files

the part files are separatly saved in folder.

5.core body.

core body is formed by cutting block with core surface.

The core body is body where the extra parts generally rests or moves.

the sliders are generally imported in core body for subtracting the surface for slider movement.

6.slider.

slider or bodies split from cavity body are imported in these files and edited for design and mating.

7.Editing of core and cavity body.

the bodies split or created are used for editing in core and cavity for recess.

8.guide rails.

guide rails are provided in core body for movement of siders.

9.washers and bolts.

washers and bolts are provided for arressting certain degree of freedom of sliders.

10.Assembly

commands used

1.mates.

2.co-ordinate system.

3.move

4.offset.

5.split line.

6.split.

7.combine.
