PIPE FLOW
PIPE FLOW
AIM
To run a pipe flow simulation with an inlet Reynolds number of 100,1000 & 10000 while placing line probes at 95%, 90% and 85% of pipe lenght and compare the velocity profiles at each of these loactions
SIMULATION
The pipe is made with 0.02m at diameter and 1m at lenght.
Line probes are sketched
Lids are made and wizard is set up.
Mesh is made with X=20, Y=20, Z=100. Total cells - 34,400.
Simulation is run.
The cut plots at made at line probes.
XY plots are also made at line probes.
Parametric study is done and results are obtained
REYNOLDS number and calculations
Diameter =0.02 m
Density = 1000 kg/m^3
Dynamics viscocity= 0.001002 kg/m.s
Reynolds number = 100, 1000, 10000
therefore velocity = 0.00501 m/s, 0.0501m/s, 0.501m/s

VELOCITY PROFILE
RESULT
The flow simulation is done and we find that as velocity increases, the velocity contours changes.
Good differentiated contours are found in low reynolds number.
Also as the reynolds number increases the inlet velocity increases.
Form the velocity profile it can be noted that more different velocities(i.e. different reynolds numbers), the velocity at 85%, 90%, 95% remains same
