Hood design-Week 2

The Hood is a major part of automotive components, it acts as a crash structure as well as being a cover for the hood.

there are multiple parts in the hood such as

  1. the outer pane - which is the outside Class A surface
  2. inner panel - which is the engineered component that acts as a crash component.
  3. hinge - it is used to rotate the hood when it is raised.
  4. latch - it is to secure the hood in a striker that holds the hood in the position when it gets closed.
  5. striker - it is a loaded mechanism that ensures that the hood gets closed and stays in that position.
  6. hood stay - it is the rod that holds the hood when it is opened.
