Hood design-Week 2
HOOD:
- A car hood, also referred as a bonnet, is the hinged cover that rests over the engine of a front-engine vehicle.
- Its purpose is to provide access to the engine for repair and maintenance.
- A concealed latch is typically used to hold down the hood.
- The shape of the hood or bonnet is made aerodynamic in order to minimize the air effect.
Components of HOOD:
- Hood consists of
- Outer Panel
- Inner Panel
- Emboss
- Reinforcement
- Reinforcement will provide the strength to Hood.
- Latch and striker mechanism is used to open and close the hood whenever is needed.
- Latch and Hinge is needed some reinforcement for strength.
HOOD supporting types:
- Gas stay
- Support rod stay
