Hood design-Week 2
Report file
1)outer panel
A car hood panel is one of the most important components of the BIW (body in white), it is considered as the closure sheet-metal component. A hood panel consists of two panels that are hemmed together to form the automotive hood assembly.
2)Inner panel
3)Inner panel for a vehicle is provided to improve rigidty, durabilityand pedestrian protecting performance by comprising a composite structure in which multi-cone structure and a framestructure are individually arranged on the front and the rear.
4)Inner panel hinges
Drivers can raise and lower their vehicles hood.Hood hinges that serve as the body panels pivoting point. These hinges also hold the hood closed on their end,and most vehicles have two hood hinges, one for each side.
5)Striker
The latch also known as a striker is a locking mechanism for closing the hood. The placement and the trajectory of this striker is determined by the circle drawn with pivotal axis of the hinge as its center. This is called 'latch trajectory'.
6)Mastics and cut outs
Mastic sealent is a type of sealent which is used to provide the joining of the outer and inner panel. It is available in Gel type form.
A ladder honeycomb hood structure for a motor vehicle for pedestrian protection. The ladder has an inner panel having ten numbers of complete equally sized hexagonal of equal diameter cutout with on side making 10° to the horizontal.
