Challenge

Foundation Design using SAFE

1. Model the isolated footing provided in week 11 challenge on SAFE. Analyze and design it to verify the size, depth and steel provided as per calculations.

2. A column of size 600x600 carrying an unfactored gravity load (DL+LL) of 1175 KN is to be supported on pile cap, which ultimately transfers load to the piles underneath. Piles of 16 metres length and 500 mm diameter are to be used. Each pile has a load carrying capacity of 200 KN. Model, analyse and design the pile cap on SAFE to evaluate the following:

  • Pile group to be used
  • Depth of pile cap
  • Longitudinal steel on top and bottom face in both directions

A)

AIM;To model the isolated footing in week 11 challenge on SAFE. Analyze and design it to verify the size, depth and steel provided as per calculations.

PROCEDURE;

1)Open the safe software and go to the new model in that keep settings units as metric as shown below

2)arrange the no of bars to be require as shown here.

3)Now add the materail properties like slab,math and requrie properties.

Now go to draw in that go to points and then assign dead load and live load.

click the properties to check whether it is correct or wrong.

'

now assign the load combinations

Now go to display in that design applies as shown below.

Result;

Isolated is designed from safe load.

2a)

AIM;

To design the pile cap on the safe model as per ythe given dimentions and logitudinal steel on top and bottom face in both directions.

Coloumn size is 600x600

3)Now add the materail properties like slab,math and requrie properties.

As per requried dimentios model has been disgned using safe model.
